Democrats unsure Hillary Clinton can beat Donald Trump in general election

Democratic Party activists are conflicted over whether Hillary Clinton can take on Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump in the general election, with some fearing she provides too much ammunition for the flamboyant businessman's style of attack.

While Mr. Trump is leading the national polls and calling the shots in what's become a circuslike GOP primary season, Mrs. Clinton tops a sedentary Democratic race with two other opponents respectfully nipping at her without doing much damage - and party stalwarts are happy to have it that way. "I hear a lot of people saying, 'You know, I've watched the Democratic debates and the Republican debates, and they're so different. I'm sure glad I'm on the Democratic side and they're talking about the issues. They don't always agree with one another, but they explain why," said David Allen, a Democratic Party leader in Barnstead, New Hampshire. "Democrats have resolved themselves to not go into a circus and tear one another down."

But Mr. Allen said he does worry about how the eventual Democratic nominee will stand up to the sort of withering barbs Mr. Trump has dished out to his own side.

>>. And Trump..he doesn’t understand Israels Sovereignty,

What do you mean by that? Are you saying that Trump doesn’t know that Israel is a nation?

>>so that precludes him being a true conservative.

Most Trump fans are supporting his nationalism. We’ve hit a point where we need to secure this nation from foreign invaders before we can worry about the finer points of what makes a person a Pure conservative.

Can I say that the minority and JoSixChip want A GOP establishment candidate that is a repackaged version of Romney

No, that would not be accurate. I do not support Cruz.

I fully expect a lot of middle-class Democrats will be voting for Trump if he is the nominee. Especially the men. Hillary Clinton is not an inspiring candidate.

“with some fearing she provides too much ammunition for the flamboyant businessman’s style of attack.”

Said another way, only Trump has the gonads to take on the Clinton’s where it hurts, the pocket and ethics books.

I don't know how old you are, but apparently you were on FR in the 90's, so you shouldn't be misguided on this issue. No Clinton is ever going suffer because of a scandal involving women/sex/adultery etc. It's not right, but that's the way it is.

And let's face it the media narrative of the Republican's war on women is here to stay. Because, look over the last ten years. If a Republican says anything, the media will paint it one way. But they won'r do the same with Democrats. And the media has gotten to the point they control the narrative.

No, I support the next POTUS: President Elect Trump. I'm so going to enjoy the primaries followed by his election this year.

>>The fact the MSM and Uniparty is 24/7 going after Trump now tells you they are scared.

If they thought he was an easy win, they’d wait until the general to attack.

YES! They can try to disguise but this reveals what they really think!

>>A minority of the electorate want an establishment candidate. Clinton represents the ultimate establishment insider, just as does JEB.

That is why Cruz is still viable, the minority and nickcarraway know he is the GOP establishment they want. And the establishment insiders think they can convince the rest of us he is an outsider. Unfortunately for them, Cruz showed his cards by taking money from the CFG and GS and voting for TPA and the corker bill.

That’s the TRUTH!

Not working with Trump. In fact Drudge has a story today that Cankles is waving the white flag when it comes to Trump and wad on women. And I know you’ve been around here long enough to know that NO ONE until Trump showed up fought back on this.

Not working with Trump

What does that mean?

Also, remember, Hillary's poll numbers have always gone UP Bill's affairs are mentioned. So she only stands to gain.

Nope. Already Drudge has stories she’s backing off Trump. And this is a new generation. Her victimhood doesn’t play today. Trump knows that. He’s the 100% wrong candidate for her to face. Rush went over all this yesterday.

No, I don’t.

And there we have it - the Left loves Trump and we must be afraid of him on our side.

Perhaps a similar conversation with another might make one of us feel better:

Funny how so many can see how Trump's a bad risk (and many of them have "concerns" about Cruz too) but are so deluded in their own little worlds that they still don't understand how much damage was done by giving Obama a second term or how it would be compounded by letting Hillary in the door. My mind has trouble grasping how so many think that it's better to put our heads in the guillotine so we don't have to suffer a stubbed toe. And they think folks like me are the problem. Question - how much more speed should we allow don this slope before saying enough? We already know that w/o a "pushy and brash" President (only Cruz and Trump fit that bill) the Congress is useless no matter how much of a majority we have - the WH is our only chance to get things even a little bit turned around. But, alas, I speak to deaf ears plugged with smug "there, there, we have a plan that will really work" tripe (reminds me of Obama's plan to beat terrorism while reality aids and abets the bad guys), and counsel that even the slightest flaw is reason for a declaration of "unclean". Perhaps you ain't noticed it yet, but the last 8 years are what happens when we can't accept a few flaws and when we react (as you claim for folks like me) "fear and desperation". I think it's more sane to feel more fear and desperation over a Hillary (or Sanders) than over a Trump (or Cruz). Pogo had it right......
