At least someone here hasn’t lost their sense of humor (and I’m a former N.J. boy, to boot - how’d I miss that one?)!
Go start a Cruz thread.
When I was in school during the late ‘60s and we studied journalism, we were told that news articles were, and should be, written at a 6th grade level. Now, with decades of the dumbing-down of Americans, I’d expect he’s reaching a large group of potential voters.
Dems are clueless idiots, so that’s how he needs to speak. It’s like the Apostle Paul who generally said he goes where the sinners are. They were the ones he needed to reach. Otherwise, he’d be preaching to the choir, and what’s the point in doing that?
Trump could draw from his schooling at military academy, and his Ivy League Wharton. We would “get it”, but we don’t need to get it; we already do. He needs to speak to the video-game-playing, Fox-sitcom-watching, rap-listening crowd so they can get it.

Exactly right.
Most of the words are single syllable making them easily understandable (as opposed to the business speak, jargon riddled content used by most pols). Also, he structures his speech such that his sentences end with the word he wants people to remember.
As part of my job, I teach public speaking and public speaking skills. This is textbook stuff which he either learned early or always did without thinking. Most pols don’t use it to their advantage but he does.
Anyone seeing that Biloxi pic for the first time hould be aware there were 10,000 more in the nearby overflow hall watching on closed circuit.
Pay closer attention, and I think you'll find that more people talk like that than you realize. Maybe not as badly, but many people frequently start one sentence and finish another when speaking in ordinary conversation. That's what's going on with Trump. He does it more than most, but most us do it to some degree.
Trump doesn't have a stump speech memorized. He just says what's on his mind, as it comes to him. The good thing is that over time, it's really hard for someone like that to hide their true thoughts. They will eventually spill out.
More than 20% of adults read at or below the fifth-grade level.
about 70% of High school GRADUATES, cannot read, write, or do arithmetic above a 3rd grade level, according to the Dept of Education.
at Los Angeles Unified it is over 75%
They are Adults also!
Heat of the moment. I just misspelled ‘should’ in another post, for cryin’ out loud.

You’ve got a point.
I’m not a Cruz supporter.
You’re right. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
“It’s a poor man who can only spell a word one way.”
One of my favorite quotes by Mark Twain.
You went a little further and added honesty to the discussion!
May your tribe increase!
Gwarsh!
Trump wants a temporary halt to muslim immigration until we figure out what is going on.
I suspect he knows damn well what is going on. I hope his definition of temporary is at least 500 years.
I think it is hilarious that some people who say “youse” or “you uns” say that Southerners who say “yall” sound funny.
And the average college graduate who is under forty could not pass my mother’s eighth grade final.
