Less than 1% of Americans sympathize with the notion that the Bundys and their friends have the right to take and use taxpayer-owned land.

Their supposedly "Constitutional" theory about their "right" to claim land they do not own is laughable.

Anyone who thinks this is a hill to die on is a mark.

These are not random squaters who have come and seized land that the Federal government was using for some other purpose. Rather, they are members of families who have a long-term lease agreement on “tax payer owned land” wiho want to continue the lease agreement which is beneficial both to those leasing and the taxpayers. The Feds, for the political purpose of appearing green, want to have the land used in a less productive manner which will produce good feelings for some but no material benefit for the tax-payers.

GIven that these families went into business with one set of rules, and the government wants to change the rules, it is an issue of justice. Justice is a reasonable hill to die on.

The federal government has burned down ranches to steal the private land in the area.

With a bit of knowledge, you’d understand that even with this move, they have the moral high ground.

But then again, less than 1% of Americans have a damned clue about what’s happening there beyond the demonization received in the media. Even those who should know better seem to have jumped to a conclusion.

I am a farm kid. There is a long standing argument between farmers and ranchers in the West. Ranchers used federal land they didn’t pay for, and killed a great many farmers who did have title and deed. Bundy didn’t have title. It wasn’t his land. His family used it for a long time, but they never owned it. Title and deed means something, even in the West.

But I come from farming stock, not ranching. A great many ranchers assume that they own every thing.

What hill then because the gun grabbers are on the march? It has already gone too far. Here is Virginia it is on edge with the new worthless law that just hit. The membership for VCDL is growing faster (by 5 times) since it hit. You are not seeing the problem.
