The US Constitution was written by lawyers, who most certainly DID know what they meant:

Completely irrelevant to the question of Ted Cruz’s eligibility. I’m sure they would be closer to Cruz’s idea of constitutional government than that of the undoubtedly NBC Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders...
