Why not also occupy the miscreant court? The Judge and the prosecutor are clearly the guilty parties.

The Bundy brothers have made their statements and for better or worse, they and others in significant numbers have embarked on this course of action.

God help us to find peace in our hearts in the midst of this......

How many politicians have called for more gun control over this?

I guess the leftist finally have that White, Right Wing militia incident.

I bet they are labeled domestic terrorist (As they should be)and not engaging in work place violence

Much of the media have blown this up fast tonight.

I can’t change what they have done or those at the building in Oregon have done.

Its happening, the sheriff is telling people to stay away and speaking of working on a resolution with multiple ones involved. The media mentions the FBI as one of them.

I can’t follow the logic in this one. Does anyone know what the FACTS are? I can’t believe CWII kicks off for something this stupid.

Why not have some unscheduled cattle drives on public roads, or work some beef suppliers to short the supply of beef into western Oregon?

“Why not also occupy the miscreant court?”

Or occupy a federal prison. Maybe their occupation will count as time served.

What has happened to the Hammonds is not stupid, it is scary. What the Bundys and their supporters are doing in response is stupid. By the time this gets done being blown out of proportion, nobody will remember that the Hammonds are sitting in prison for inordinately long sentences for the supposed crime they committed.

The two Hammonds are ranchers (ages 74, 46) in Oregon who are going back to jail Monday after serving time already for a federal arson conviction related to their setting ‘backfires’ to protect their property from brushfires.

Federal land ended up getting burned so they already went to jail, now they are being forced back, talk of them being judicially labeled as terrorists causing their return to jail for lighting the fires to protect their property from brushfires.

The Hammonds are willing to go to jail, there was a peaceful rally Saturday in support of them with hundreds on the scene.

But now some 100 folks with members of the Bundy family involved have taken action to occupy the building at the wildlife preserve (federal land) in a protest action-’civil disobedience’.

They say they don’t want violence, but will defend from attack.

Some late reporting before I bed down for the night....this is some of the latest update from “The Oregonian/Oregon Live” website:

“Among those joining Bundy in the occupation are Ryan Payne, US Army veteran, and Blaine Cooper. Payne has claimed to help organize militia snipers to target federal agents in a standoff last year in Nevada. He told one news organization the federal agents would have been killed had they made the wrong move.

He has been a steady presence in Burns in recent weeks, questioning people who were critical of the militia’s presence. He typically had a holstered sidearm as he move around the community.

At a community meeting in Burns Friday, Payne disavowed any ill intent.

‘The agenda is to uphold the Constitution. That’s all’ he said.

Cooper, another militia leader, said at the meeting he participated in the Bundy standoff in Nevada.

‘I went there to defend Cliven with my life’, Cooper said.”

Who exactly are they terrorizing ? The facility was closed for the winter. Oregon is buried in snow. The feds should just let them stay until the spring. Any damages to facility can be billed to them. The way this winter is going it is likely to be buried under snow anyway. They might actually do some good if they keep clearing the snow.

“I can’t believe CWII kicks off for something this stupid.”

Lexington and Bunker Hill started our Revolution.

Fort Sumter started The War Between The States.

Archduke Ferdinand’s assassination started WWI.

It doesn’t take much to start a war. The hard part is ending it.

A hundred people plan on staying there for years? How much food did they bring with them? What happens when the power to the building is shut off?

Not buying it. “Yeearrrghh!”

” quite another to burn federal lands”

That is another Constitutional question.
According to the Constitution all lands in the States not privately owned shall be State owned. Since about the time of the Civil War and the Statehoods of the western states this was changed to Federal lands.
So, effectively the Federal government owns most of the land in the western states not the states themselves.
If that were the case the problem would be solved (more or less).

Was it actually wrong under the circumstances apart from the legal technicalities. Would a sane Federal management have permitted the burns?
