ROCHESTER, N.Y. —Federal authorities say a New York man has been arrested on charges he was planning a New Year's Eve attack at a bar to prove to the Islamic State he was worthy to join it in Syria.
Prosecutors announced Thursday that 25-year-old Emanuel Lutchman, of Rochester, has been charged with attempting to provide material support to terrorists. They say he was snared in an FBI sting.
A federal complaint says Lutchman is a self-professed convert to Islam who claimed to receive direction from an overseas Islamic State member and planned to carry out an attack at a bar in the Rochester area on Thursday.
The FBI says Lutchman had an accomplice who was actually working for the agency. It says they bought knives and a machete for the attack.
Lutchman was arrested Wednesday. It's not immediately clear who represented him at an initial court appearance.

Sadly, you're right. It's the same reason that prosecutors tend to go after drug users and small time street dealers rather than drug kingpins. The kingpins are a risky target - they have top notch legal teams, local crony political/police/business connections, and a code of silence to protect them. It's so much better to just have a long list of inconsequential small fry put away to please the bean counters and to prove to the public how tough you are.

You really don’t grasp it at all. Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but just in case people don’t know.
They do not believe that alluh regenerates them. They believe that he accepts them as Natural Man (sinful and degenerate) but he places restrictions what they can do to tempt themselves and he gives them opportunities to earn paradise (works-based salvation). In the end, the opens the books and judges your deeds to see if the balance tips in your favor. With alluh, there is no grace.
This is just another reason why we do not worship the same God.

TIMELINE OF ALLEGED NYE TERROR PLOT
Dec. 27
Lutchman sends an audio message to an FBI informant swearing allegiance to ISIS.
Dec. 28
Lutchman tells another informant an overseas contact with ISIS suggested he carry out an attack to prove himself and help him to join the group in Syria. The informant suggests they use knives as a backup.
Dec. 29
One of the informants contacts Lutchman and backs out. Lutchman hesitates but continues, confirming to an informant the chosen location.
Dec. 29
That evening, they go to the Hudson Avenue Walmart and buy supplies for the attack.
Dec. 30
Lutchman is arrested. Prior to the arrest, he made a video using the informant’s cell phone in which he swore allegiance to ISIS and claimed responsibility for the planned attack.
We are playing whack-a-mole. It’s only a matter of time before we miss one.
Sounds like his family member is claiming it was a set up. That he could not have planned this himself but that he was easily led. Neighbors saying he was a “nice, quiet, guy”.....Family members stated he had pulled away from family.

He was probably converted in prison. I wonder if convicts get early release (wink wink) if they convert to islam. Islam should be disallowed in prison. But it won’t be. It’s Obamas little personal army.
