True. Ethanol should have to compete on the free market. Sink or swim. IMO, corn is for food, not energy.

I think that’s the way most of us feel about these things. If they can make a successful go of it without taxpayer support, more power to em.

ethanol can now be made from corn cobs.

it took a while.
but in the fight
against OPEC, al-Queda and al-Exxon,
you have to start somewhere.

I believe the subsidy has expired.

IMO, corn is for food, not energy.

I doubt you eat hybrid feed-corn. Now they feed the spent mash to livestock, and claim the processed meal is more nutritious than the cracked corn.

So now they get two products, alcohol and cattle feed.
