I’m afraid you are right. Jim Webb would appeal to Independents and thinking Democrats (a mighty small group and almost an oxymoron) who would otherwise be inclined to vote for someone like Trump. The vast majority of Democrats are moronic sheep easily herded to vote for Hillary— the very reason he dropped out of the race in the first place.
His voting record was at best half as good as the worst Republicans. He’s a creepy lib.
Any GOP votes he attracts will be RINOS who would go Hillary over Cruz (or Trump).
