Muhammad died painfully from poison, and Abu Bakr’s strongman Omar (Umar) killed muhammad’s only daughter a few months later, before she could give birth to the baby she carried. Muhammad has no direct descendants, and Abu Bakr became the second Caliph (Omar was the third).
It was always a ruthless political cult that co-opted religion as support for dictatorial authority.
Amazing how such a ruthless political cult could continue to grow for all these centuries.
