Could be...but then when Trump takes the White House with another VP, he risks having to run as an establishment 2nd term Senator next go around. Depending on whether he gets anything done in the Senate in his next term and who is up and coming will depend on well he fares then. He may be better off taking VP now and grinning and bearing the ceremonial duties for four years. After all, he’s done pretty well drafting thus far.
