We see time and again on these threads Trump supporters twisting facts or distorting the record. That makes me angry but I concede that Trump has done much to alter the race. But I do not confuse that with evidence of good character, I do not confuse that with evidence of conservative bona fides. And since I am wary of the man behind the rhetoric, I am equally wary of the perfectly normal human tendency in all of us always to long for a Messiah, the man on horseback.
We saw this in 2008 in the Democrats concerning Barack Obama. It was almost a parody of Messiah worship. We expect that from Democrats, we should not expect it from conservatives.
If Trump is nominated I will support him, I will defend him against every unjust distortion posted by the PC media. But I will nevertheless be wary of what we are getting.
I agree with that sentiment. He's not been a consistent conservative, not any where near what Cruz has been, on many issues we don't know what to expect. It's why I prefer Cruz.
Like you said, I also will support Trump if wins, and do it with an appearance of whole hearted approval, even if I privately fear we'll get bit by doing so.
