The bathrooms inside the Milan Airport 30 years ago were gender free — they had stalls with floor to ceiling walls. The urinals were behind 4 foot walls, so men could look over the wall and see women primping their hair in mirrors while they took a whiz; I never figured out whether it would have been impolite to fart in that situation.

The “international signs” for male/female, which were supposed to have pants/skirt, had the bottom scraped off so you couldn’t tell which had been male and which female.

One more court decision and we are headed in that direction.
