Texas Sen. Ted Cruz believes the 2016 race for the Republican presidential nomination is becoming a two-man contest between Donald Trump and himself.
Cruz celebrated his 45th birthday in Tennessee on Tuesday, where the senator stumped as part of his tour of the March 1 nominating states - particularly those in the "SEC primary."
"I did think it was interesting that Donald Trump said a couple of days ago that he thinks this race will come down to him and me. I think Donald may well be right," Cruz said in Tennessee. "I think it could easily end up being a two-man race between Donald Trump and me. And I think that presents a good choice to the American people. This process is a job interview. It is a job interview where each and every one of us is standing before 330 million Americans and trying to make the case in terms of who is best prepared to be commander-in-chief."
Cruz said he has seen evidence that the race is coming down to just two candidates while on his journey through the Super Tuesday nominating states before the Christmas holiday. But Cruz said he believes, "If conservatives unite, this race is over."
Cruz ranks first in the Washington Examiner's newest GOP presidential power rankings. Trump ranks second.
Ted Cruz: "If conservatives unite, this race is over."
No, it’s Trump & Cruz vs. GOPee.

Trump says the right words that tickle the ear. But I can’t get past the fact he’s changed parties 5 times and most donations went to DEMONRATS. How is that being Pro USA Mr. Trump? Where do you stand on abortion? Putting in Conservative USSC justices and lower federal court judges. Term Limits for Congress. Pay tied to Senior and Ret. Military COLA raises. Border fence, stopping all muslims from entering the USA and rounding up the ones that are here and deporting them. To many come on Visas and never leave.
How about the indoctrination of islam in our schools. Make them go to their own private schools if they want to pray 5 times a day. Our Christian children can’t even pray or take a Bible to school any more.
Print it out, hand it out. Print shop on plain paper as business cards.

Trump is a big picture guy and leaves the details to the experts, exactly what a head of state should do rather than micromanage everything.
Cruz is a detail guy, and they both have a similar big picture vision.
Wait, Cruz, Trump, and Shrillery! is THREE men.
And, of course, he is for Renewable Fuel Standard (ethanol mandate), so governement can pick winners and losers.
Trump's Record on Free-market Issue: (from the Conservative Review)
Trump has a terrible record on free market issues. The only bright spot is the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing, but this glimmer is countermanded by his repeated support for bailing out Wall Street and the auto industry, and increased stimulus spending. Of particular concern is Trump's belief that the government can use eminent domain powers to seize private property in the name of private economic development. This comes as no surprise, given his support for using eminent domain to profit his own company.
Trump supported the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of London, allowing public authorities to seize private land for economic development by private investors; Trump said, “I happen to agree with [the decision] 100 percent.” (National Review) This is no surprise given Trump’s attempt to use eminent domain in his own line of work. (Institute for Justice)
Trump supported President Obama’s 2009 stimulus, saying: “The word stimulus is probably not used in its fullest…you know, certain of the things that were given weren't really stimulus. They were pork, as we call it, or they were gifts to certain people. But overall, I think he's [President Obama] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” (CNN)
Trump supported TARP, saying, "You had to do something to shore up the banks, because ... you would have had a run on every bank." (CNN)
Trump supported the 2008 auto bailout, saying, “I think the government should stand behind them 100 percent. You cannot lose the auto companies. They’re great. They make wonderful products.” He also said that the federal government could “easily save the companies.” (Daily Caller)
Trump criticized the Federal Reserve’s intervention in the debt market, saying quantitative easing creates “phony numbers” that mislead the marketplace and “will not ultimately benefit the economy. The dollar will go down in value and inflation will start rearing its ugly head.” (CNBC)
Donald Trump has a history of using eminent domain to complete business deals. Multiple times Trump has supported the use of government agencies to take possession of homes and businesses for use in his private business plans. Eminent domain seizures are reserved only for public use of property rather than abuse by the government taking property from one individual and giving to another. (Washington Post)
Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. Special treatment for one business or industry over another with the tax code conflicts with free market principles. (National Review)
In 2009, Trump supported Barack Obama's call for limits on the pay of executives. (CNN)
I believe that Cruz will have a hard time winning the general. Too many pissed off people that he needs. I will vote for him gladly, but I don’t see him as the one that can win. I am a Marco Rubio fan, because I do think he is the strongest general election candidate. I am not a fan of Trump.
So you signed up yesterday to express your “concerns” about Cruz and express your love for the GOPe amnesty monkey.
Got it.
Hildabeast will have to debate. With Cruz as her opponent the choice will be very very stark. Another 4 yrs of Obama or is it time for a change?
With Trump having stirred the political pot, I for one think change is in the air.
I have more or less expected it to whittle down to Trump, Cruz and Rubio and then eventually Trump and Cruz. I see the polls tightening somewhat as others drop out but I see Trump as the clear winner in this thing.
You have to have some time you sign up. I have read this for years. Yes I think Rubio would have a better time winning the general election. I will gladly vote for Ted Cruz, my senator, I still think he has a bigger hill to climb in the general.

I agree that Ted’s ability to win a general election is iffy. I don’t think he can even win the GOP nomination and he’s running second to Trump in his own state. Not a good sign.
Gilmour is still hanging in...
Did he post it here under your username?
We always lose when we run moderates, and Rubio is the definition of that.
Also, he’s been promoting amnesty for years. Anyone who wants that will vote for the Democrat.
