With cool new features, such as Cortana and developer access to a uniform system to create apps on, Windows 10 certainly has a lot to offer (especially for free). If you've already upgraded, great, but that also means that time is nearly up to change your mind. Windows 10 offers the ability to "downgrade" to your previous version if you decide you don't like it, but only for one month.
Still, what's not to like? With a sharper, more modern interface and faster overall load times, Windows 10 is looking pretty good. The problem, however, lies in whether or not you have a vested interest in your privacy. All these new features come with a trade-off: Microsoft, like other companies, wants to record more of what you're doing.
So what can be done?

The "Off" setting. Don't use Windows 10. It's nothing but spyware/malware.
Non-Trump ping to some important stuff.
ALL Windows 10 problems solved
I had a recent conversation with a friendly and respected geek and he said, "Knarf ... you can't handle W10"
I didn't probe that reply ... I just said, "Thanx" and walked away to my W7 ... happy.
Exactly. Easier to patch up a ship in the water with a thousand holes in it.
I still have 8.1. I daren’t even try 10.
That can be fixed by uninstalling these up dates:
* 3068708
* 3022345
* 3075249
* 3080149
If you're being harassed to download windows 10, that can be stopped by uninstalling:
* 3035583
Good Luck
I’d like to add something that isn’t there.
Under “Feedback” you have choices as to frequency and “diagnostic and usage data”.
I’ve set my feedback frequency to once a week (you could use never, but I’m willing to give them diagnostic info every once in a while.
More important is the diagnostic and usage data, which I set to basic, the lowest setting. On an older machine it defaulted to Full, and the machine was crippled (99% disk activity while it rummaged around). Setting it to basic fixed that problem.
Trick question. You need to avoid Windows 10 entirely.
what I’m thinking of doing is installing virtual machine and running Linux for everything internet related, and closing it, unplugging from the internet, and running windows 7 just to run my windows programs like photoshop, games etc- That way I never have to update past windows 7
problem is though I’ll probably forget to unplug cable from time to time so I’ll be more vulnerable to virus htreats-
If I really need to run Windows at all, it will be XP on a computer disconnected from the Internet. Otherwise, I run Linux most of the time.
I did and immediately regretted it but could not go back to Windows 7 because I had not saved my Windows 7 files and programs.
Now that I am getting use to it, I like it.
And using Malwarebytes and Kaspersky, I don't have to worry about spyware/malware.
But despite MS's claims that Windows 10 is free, it ain't.
I had to buy a new MS Office because my old one was wiped out (it was not Windows 10 compatible).
Anyway, for those of you who have migrated to Windows 10, this article explains how to easily protect your privacy from MSFT.
If you-re being harassed to download windows 10, that can be stopped by uninstalling:
3035583
You need to go back into updates and click ‘hide update’ on that download too so it won’t be visible any longer
Thanks!
thx

What a sneaky underhanded thing they did- other programs also don’t work with 10 too from what I understand
You'll save hours just on the startup, shutdown and update times.
After you remove the windows 10 programs as stated in post #7, turn of automatic updates. They will keep re-installing them if you don't.
All advice to me has been stay away from windows 10.
1) Click on START / SETTINGS / PRIVACY and flipping most all of the switches in all the categories to “off”. Just read through it as you go, it will only take a few minutes to flip all the switches the first time.
2) Download Spybot Anti Beacon and hit the immunize button. It will set all of the harder to do settings for you.

Enjoy Windows 10. It’s nice.
