Are you stupid? Most of Ted Cruz's hard campaign money comes from small donors of $100 or less. In fact Ted Cruz has received small donations from vastly more small donors than any other GOP candidate. That shows his very strong grassroots support.
So yeah, he is beholden to the American voter.
