“favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate”

So agreeing with a candidate is a felony? This entire law is a hole big enough to fly a Saturn 5 through sideways.

Example

“John and I agree on X. The country would benefit from having a guy like Jon as our Y”.

“Bob and I agree on X. The country would benefit from having someone like Bob as our Y” instead of the garbage we have.”

Good luck trying to convict on that statement.

If you are not in a position to hire or appoint someone depending on the outcome of an election, then the law doesn’t apply to you. It only applies to individuals running for elected office.
