I like the song too. While it isn’t my favorite, it is beautiful when sung softly and quietly. I had never really thought about the song until recently, when on a long road trip. Hubby and I had on an all-Christmas music station. I actually had a tear in my eye when I thought of the drummer boy, alone and poor, who wanted so badly to give the Christ Child a gift, but only had the gift of music. A sad but touching story. Moonhawk, the widow in the Temple came to mind for me too!

enraged, we have that version on DVD. It is rarely shown on tv. The Vienna Boys Choir sang. There was a second part that wasn’t as good.

Is it a Rankin/Bass production? From the same era of master stop action puppetry maybe even earlier than the 60?
