Thank God we have you to `investigate` possible criminal posting activity here on FreeRepublic.

You should change your handle to FreeperDick.

The date is the date on the article at the site as I found it. Unfortunate I was misled.

So now that you’ve taken your case to the FreeperGrandJury (how many people did you copy?), what happens next?

A summons to appear in FreeperCourt and face a FreeperJudge?

Here's another "feel-good".

Some of my kinfolks own a general store in my former home town in South Louisiana. Two of the kiddies were "electronic wizards", and they wired the store for sound pickup, with alarms and sound transmission to the family home a few blocks away.

Soooo......one night the alarms sound, and they listen to these crooks looting their store. Dad (former Marine)calls up a few of the neighbors, who grab their hunting rifles and surround the store (this is "deep rural" territory in the deep South...if there are any folks who DON'T own guns, they keep quiet about it).

The crooks see this from a window. Said crooks then CALL THE SHERIFF to come and arrest them!

[[Luis Pena Jr. was found by a court to be within his right and legally justified in shooting and killing the scumbag.]]

Had he been a white Christian heterosexual man, I wonder if the jury would have found him within his rights?

easy does it, eddie01. Methinks thou dost protest too much.
It's no big deal. it's a great story.
No where did I accuse anybody of anything.

I was just looking for info and was too lazy to go find it. I was hoping Freepers would know the answer.

FreepRegards.

Once a judge rules that it was justifiable then the shooter does not have to worry about charges later on. It’s legally over.

It's a good thing when the bad folks fear civilian retribution more than the cops. It's the way it should be.

As an aside, have you seen Fat Freddy lately? ;)

Good reason to move to Florida.

Better than that move to Polk County, home of Sheriff Grady Judd. He's the one who said after his deputies fired 100 shots at a gunman accused of killing a sheriff's deputy and his K-9 dog and hitting him 68 times, “That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more." We know Sheriff Grady Judd has our back.

It was pretty tacky of the writer to list the people’s home address, though.

We have family in Lakeland, Palmetto, Bradenton and Largo. We also have friends in northern Florida and along the gulf coast. We’ve often talked about retiring there.

Sheriff Grady Judd sounds like an exceptional man.

He’s got quite the resume, too:

A revolver made of silver must be mighty expensive.

Close the lunchroom and install a water fountain on the sidewalk.

Bunch of little whiny babies. Send them all home to mommy. They aren’t mature enough to be away from their bassinets.

Blah, wrong thread.

This thread - good on the family. That should send a message to anyone in the future to anyone thinking about breaking into that house.

Dude!

You need to apologize to Stylin!

Stylin wasn't criticizing the posting date in anyway but rather filing us all in on how the case even went to court.

Take two of these stat.

There are companies that do that job.

They don't work for free. I grew up in South Jamaica, Queens (zip code: 11434) one of the shittiest hell holes in the western world. One of our neighbors was an Irish family with seven kids, whose father was a lawyer working on Wall Street, but really not rich, just making it. (The oldest son was the kid who modeled for the "are you a nerd" article in National Lampoon, circa 1977.) Somehow, dad, who specialized in real estate, ended up defending a guy from Forrest Hills who was accused of murdering his wife and leaving her in a pool of blood in kitchen.

Turned out really well, the guy got convicted and the Dad got his house to pay his legal fees. Moving from S. J. to Forrest Hills is like moving from Afghanistan to West Palm Beach, so not too shabby. He also handled my father's estate and when I drove out to see him to handle some papers, at his new house - before his family moved in - the blood stain was still on the floor.
