So much for the establishment's efforts to stop Donald Trump. So far, nothing's working - not a thousand earnest think pieces or Jeb Bush's gripes in the latest debate. Not the wrath of news anchors and late-night hosts, who still can't resist booking Trump on their shows, but have started to get ornery during the interviews.
So maybe it's worth looking back to 1991 Louisiana, when establishment Republicans and Democrats banded together to defeat a popular, populist, problematic gubernatorial candidate named David Duke...
I spoke this week to some veterans of the anti-Duke battle, who told me they've been talking up this very idea, while noting that the parallels aren't exact. As hard as it is to divine Donald Trump's motivations - as much as his Bulworth act can sound like bigotry, and possibly is ...
Would a little more digging into Trump's past, plus a loud dose of Louisiana-style dark humor, accomplish what all of the hand-wringing hasn't?

I feel you bros. And yeah, your example is a rare supporter who admits that his past is worrisome...(and present too...he's gone left in the last two weeks on some things...but shhhh.....you can't say that on nsFR.) To your first point, he never says "limited government" or "Constitution" (unless he's zeroing in on an amendment he happens to like) - while he is all the time talking about what a big powerful government will do with a big powerful person in the Oval. Wasn't but a couple of years ago when that alone would send conservatives running for the hills.
Now we have them supporting Kelo and ethanol and all kinds of leftist stuff.....
Exactly. It is also a smear whether they think the plan is plausible or not.
Holy Cow! A breakthrough!
The so what would be, so why do you trust him to follow through on what he says he will. When the times get really tough and the decisions are excruciating, how do you know which set of guiding principles he will use to make his decision? Doesn’t that matter?
I’ve seen more anti trump posters use ad hominem than trump supporters. You used ad hominem in your post.
Your second paragraph commits the fallacy of two few alternatives.
And they haven't already?
uh huh ... sure ... uh huh .... yep
“Edwards said he could get away with anything except being caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.”
He lifted that line from a former Louisiana governor, Huey Long.
Donald Trump is our middle finger!
....and that alone is the reason I support him over all Democrats and most Republicans....but I will not avoid the truth of his past, and present, big government liberal reflexes.......I will not.
A bulldozer does not have to run as smooth as a Mercedes to be effective. We need a real estate guy to clear the terrain and reset the foundations. Trump’s the man. He’s not just a candidate, he’s a counter revolution.
However, the single most corrupting influence in our entire political system is CAREER POLITICIANS. To get term limits we need an Article V. Convention of States. Also, that’s the only way to get a balanced budget amendment and restoration of our Constitution.

What these geniuses can’t see is that what made David Duke David Duke was his history as a Klansman, and his rhetoric.
{too few alternatives}
You mean like the trumpeter swans all saying that if you don’t vote for trump, you’re choosing the GOPe....as though Ted Cruz is either part of the GOPe (laughable) or he doesn’t exist.
Trump has been an open book his whole adult life.
Jeb and Kasich and Perry and everyone else would have used any dirt they had if it could damage him.
Hillary has nothing that they wouldn't have found (which is why they hate Trump with such a passion...they know he's unstoppable).
Tax plan including corporate inversion solution.
Extremely conservative 2nd amendment position paper - backed up with what he says rallies, pressers and media appearances.
Immigration reform is as conservative as anyone else.
There are more, just watch how other candidates cobb on to the issues Trump bulldozes into the open.
Pretty good?
The media despises Trump. They have had their guns blazin' from the start...and they can't so much as scratch him.
No I meant that second paragraph.

No.
If he closes the border, that is sufficient. If the border is not closed, nothing else matters.
