The latest case involves two airmen who were last seen at Moody Air Force Base near Valdosta, Ga., on Dec. 4, two weeks before they were scheduled to graduate and return to duty in Afghanistan. They are still being sought...Most of the Afghan airmen now being trained at Moody Air Force Base are pilots and maintenance crews for 20 new Brazilian-made A-29 light attack planes, bought for the Afghans by the United States at a cost of $427 million...Colonel Lawhorn said a total of 80 Afghans were now being trained at eight American air bases. General Wardak gave a higher figure of 140, with an additional 50 to 100 scheduled to arrive in January. It was not immediately clear why their tallies did not match.

Transitioning from camels to F-16’s a little more involved than they thought.

Afghanistan will certainly go the way of South Vietnam. Helicopters will be evacuating folks from the US embassy roof in Kabul, etc. The only two questions are when it will happen, and how much money the US will waste in the meantime.

Terrorists trained as airplane pilots were in the news abut a decade and a half ago.

“It was not immediately clear why their tallies did not match.”

Sure it is; there is no such thing as “Afghanistan” anymore (in terms of a country), and this is just more nonsense to obscure the fact that we lost a war there. We’re carrying out a charade of “Vietnamization” in Afghanistan...

I agree it will be ugly. There is no easy way to get all of our equipment out of there...best case scenario is our personnel destroy it on their way out.

Could be a bloodbath when we leave...for those who cooperated with us.

If the Afghans are smart, they will be boozing it up in Canada.

If God wanted Afghanis to fly, He would have given them wings.

Two weeks after we leave they would be flying for the Taliban anyway.

Someday the present generation will learn that the wisdom of our forefathers in recognizing how to handle Germany and Japan after the war was based on profiling their racial tendencies. Multi-Culturialism is politically correct speak for Non Culture thought and like all thought police enforced thinking nonsense.

As someone who has lived in Japan, Germany and with Muslims, let me assure you Islamic culture is night and day different from the results based German or perfection based Japanese based culture. Islam is based on denial of personal responsibility.

The old answer’s will not work, and present day society does not have the brain tools to come up with an answer, or the balls to carry it out if they stumbled across a clue. Without moral integrity, a Nation is run by fools.

“Lagging behind other branches of the NATO-trained Afghan military, the air force did not get started on development until 2007 and has been plagued with missteps, including the American-financed purchase of 16 transport planes that turned out not to be in flying condition.

The 16 planes, which cost more than $400 million, were sold as scrap for about 6 cents a pound, or $32,000 in all, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction reported.”

Unbelievable.
