Today Guy Benson wrote that Ted Cruz lied about his positions last night on the legalization of illegals. Here’s what he wrote:
Cruz now indignantly claims that the black-and-white evidence in these two clips is “not accurate.” Some of the Texas Senator’s defenders say that his pro-legalization amendment was merely a strategic move designed to prove a point (that Democrats were insistent upon citizenship, not legalization, because they were hunting for votes), or to help torpedo the broader legislation. But that’s not what Ted Cruz said at the time. He told journalist Byron York that his amendment was a good faith effort to fix the bill “so that it actually solves the problem.” He echoed this sentiment at a Princeton University alumni event: "The amendment I introduced affected only citizenship; it did not affect the underlying legalization in the Gang of Eight bill," he said. “My effort in introducing [my amendmentss] was to find solution that reflected common ground and fixed the problem." Senator Ted Cruz did, clearly and provably, favor mass legalization of legal immigrants. He proposed it, he advocated for it, and he asked his colleagues to pass it.
It indeed was as strategic move designed to expose what the Gang of 8 bill was all about. We show that here via Amanda Carpenter. Carpenter actually worked for Cruz and knew what he was doing. She’s no hack.
But Benson ignores all of that and says that Cruz actually told reporters and others at the time that basically he was really trying to fix the bill. This is the basis of his argument.
Well, what’s Cruz supposed to say? Is he supposed to expose the lies of the Gang of 8 by arguing one thing in the Senate and telling everyone else something different? Then his fellow Senators would surely know his strategy and start spreading it everywhere in order to refute Cruz.
It’s not hard to put this together. Guy Benson can do better.
I am on Cruzzzzzzz Control!!!
Ted Cruz Exposes the Amnesty Bill... $5000 Penalty for Hiring Citizens Over Legalized Aliens (Video)
The dead enders will continue to trash him on this but they aren’t so much concerned with the facts as they are for clearing a path for their candidate.
Fortunately they’re on the losing side of that fight and are only sending new supporters to Ted Cruz.
I will never support dishonest Rubio for anything.
While they support the lifelong liberal Trump.
Thanks North Carolina
For nothing...
I don’t intend to ever smear Ted Cruz for his immigration stance.
I just read that the heads of the Senate Intelligence Committee have said that no one is being investigated for disclosing classified information. Guess they called off the witch hunt.
Good news. No need to circle the bowl with this cretin.
It’s all just chatter to get their points played on CNN.
I loved Donald’s b!tchsl@ps on Jeb last night, that was beauty. Jeb was so beside himself trying to poke a finger in Trump’s eye that he just sounded desperate to me, like always. 3% Jeb, embarassing.
But Ted is my guy. I have heard nothing come from his mouth I didn’t agree with, or believe.
Why stop? He still stuck to a lawyer answer and was not explicit. Sorry, he’s not saying ‘deport anyone here illegally’. Besides, how real is his flip-flop on 500% increase of H1B? No, Cruz needs to come clean.
Trump a couple of days ago: “Cruz is a maniac.”
Trump now: “He has a great temperament.”
Next flip coming by the end of the week, most likely.
Like another Freeper said, “The only thing consistent about Trump is his inconsistency.”
So you keep yapping, but you got nothin’.
Trump/Cruz. Cruz/Trump. I’m happy.
His campaign rhetoric is not to believed, he has been consistently liberal.
Brett Baier grilled him pretty hard tonight on his position based on what he said in 2013 and what he said last night. It was the first time I heard Cruz flustered. Admittedly, I was listening on the Sirius app, so I don’t know if I heard it correctly but it’s worth a listen to hear the questions and his response for accuracy in both questions and answers.
Cruz was on Special Report and I haven’t seen tap dancing like that for decades.
If he is as principled as some say, then why can’t he just admit it. This “just because I voted for it doesn’t mean I supported it” stuff ain’t cutting it.
No. He was literally stuttering.
I saw the interview also. Cruz babbled non answers to Baier’s questions.
All very depressing trying to select a favored candidate out of this bunch.
Absolutely true.
