They might try, but the genius of the founding fathers is that people can look at how successful those measures are in the places they’ve been implemented.

And aside from the “Surrounding areas” excuse, they won’t be able to show much success.

I do find that idea of ‘call-in background check only’ very intriguing and something on which I would like some more information if available.

As many have pointed out - if a background check is supposed to be about the purchaser, WHY do they need to know about the gun?

As many have pointed out - if a background check is supposed to be about the purchaser, WHY do they need to know about the gun?

Why does the federal government check out an American citizen buying a gun more thoroughly than a muslim jihadi who wants to enter the USA?

I use that point whenever the bogus "background check to prevent the wrong hands" mantra comes up in the media.

I follow it up by asking all those who have never bought a firearm to visit this site and fill out the form to see how much info FOR EACH gun the person buys. I hope I change a few open minds.
