Limbaugh Denies He 'Turned On' Trump After Criticizing His Attack on Cruz

Rush Limbaugh today criticized Donald Trump for his attacks on Ted Cruz, but upon being informed the media thinks he turned on Cruz, Limbaugh insisted he did no such thing.

In case you missed it, after Trump called Cruz a "mania" yesterday who can't get anything done in Congress, Limbaugh today criticized him for echoing the establishment. He said, "Any of you who are holding out hope that Trump is a genuine conservative... a genuine conservative would not go after Cruz this way."

Well, during his show, Limbaugh founds out the media already picked up his criticism. He clarified, "I haven’t turned on anybody. I haven't thrown anybody away. I haven't announced support for anybody."

He insisted he was just disappointed and asking a question about Trump's attack on Cruz "because it sounded like the same kind of criticism we would get from the establishment Republicans."

Limbaugh did muse over whether Trump would turn on him next, but figured it wouldn't happen.

For what it's worth, Limbaugh wasn't nearly as restrained in his criticism as Mark Levin was later in the day.

it’s not about babysitting Cruz or protecting him from Trump. It’s about whether or not Trump is a conservative or just a moderate, (if not liberal), hijacking the republican train to the election.

Trump has yet to make an intelligent, well thoughtout, well spoken argument in favor of conservatism. All he does is spew bumper sticker slogans and red-neck fist pumping chants.

The world is finally seeming right again now that Levin and Rush are starting to decouple their lips from Trump’s ass. Trump is an empty suit, just as empty as obama. At least we knew what we’d get with Obama, Trump is dangerous in that we don’t know.

I hope Trump tries to take Cruz in the debate weeds. Cruz will eat Trump alive, doing it with grace, chivalry, and a smile.

Trump attacked Cruz from the LEFT. He sounded like Jeb.

Cruz attacked Trump from the left. He sounded like LBJ. See post #60.

I will admit I don’t know the background of the statement that Scalia made, but I didn’t care for his statement either. And I’m not trying to ingratiate myself with anyone.

I completely agree.

However, even Rush makes an occasional misstep.

I do not believe that Levin or Limbaugh are Rinos, I appreciate their viewpoints, true information & perspectives, however they are ONLY pundits!!! They will only ever offer talk and I expect their perspective may be biased by their own choice of candidate. Their viewpoints may mirror our own, but they will not and do not want to be our leader!

Furthermore I think that anyone that attacks Trumps conservatism or should I say more specifically, Trumps Patriotism is a flipping troll and deserves to be drawn & quartered! ( ;-D ). Trump is a populist & he is in front of the wave consistently which gets him the people’s support & loyalty. He is a leader. He loves the United States! I want a huge wall on the US southern border. I want Trump to do that! In this issue alone he beats all other cuckservatives! I want this fixed and illegal immigration ended! If he does this I will be overjoyed and everything else that he may accomplish, will only be gravy. I don’t give a Hillarys RAT a$$ if you think he is not a conservative. Bugger off.

Cruz is owned by his donors. He has fought for us in Congress, has alienated his colleagues in the process. I guess he hoped he had the more conservative support in the Senate and the touch to get the American people fired up. Wasn’t that successful with what he attempted to do. But he did do something. Then he waffled & supported the Corker Bill and TPA well, that didn’t go well with supporters, myself included.

If you think Trump hasn’t made any intelligent, well thought out and well spoken arguments in favor of conservatism, you haven’t been paying attention to much other than media headlines. Listen to a few of his interviews, read his position papers, read his books.

Staying neutral is proving a challenger for Limbaugh this time around.

The old, can't you trust this nut with his finger on the nuclear button slur.

That a very old leftist slur Dims have used against Republicans at least since LBJ used it against Goldwater.

Humphrey and McGovern both used it against Nixon.

Carter and Dims used it against Reagan.

Now Cruz used it against Trump.

A common leftist slur to accuse a Republican candidate of being a nut that can't trusted with the nuclear button.

I heard Rush’s comments on Megyn Kelly (in between her raging period, according to Trump).

Limbaugh has got to be getting tired. I think he’d rather talk sports all day.

And Rush should have. My family and I have been very strong supporters of Donald Trump, but his leftist attacks over the weekend have made us rethink our support. Ted Cruz has been one of the few, fighting the establishment, and didn’t deserve Trump’s depiction of him. Right now, we don’t know who we are going to vote for anymore. And were sick about it.

That is just sad. Maybe you could vote for pajama boy?

Justice Scalia was making a common sense point that affirmative action in the placement of some minorities in top notch schools may not be in their best interest if they don’t have the foundation to keep up with the tough programs. He said they may be better served with less strenuous schools where they are better able to compete and succeed. That’s not racist, it’s just good common sense. And that’s not just opinion, there’s statistical study to affirm Scalia’s statement. Don’t need to believe it at face value, here’s a CNN opinion piece by an African American, saying Scalia has a point:

I don’t have a dog in this fight as I would be thrilled if either Trump or Cruz became the nominee.

As for your belief that Trump won’t be the nominee, with all the media hype of a “Steel Cage Match” between Trump and Cruz with the Senator surging in new polls in Iowa, the bigger poll news today (and under reported) was the one of Monmouth University....Trump @ 41% nationally?

If other national polls reflect similar movement, being that it’s the middle of December, history strongly favors a Trump nomination.

Don’t be sick about it. The more I look at how this is playing out, the better it looks.

Trump has gone so gonzo the last six-months that in comparison Cruz may now look sane and acceptable to both the GOPe and even some independents.

It wouldn’t have worked out this way for Ted had he been having to take all the liberal media fire as the “crazy right winger” the last six-months.

I’m hoping Cruz grabs the football and runs all the way to the end zone. This is a good development.

Well you are either a professional or you are not. If Limbaugh can’t do it don’t expect the Main Street media to ever do it!

What’s amazing is that Trump slams them and they keep covering him! I have watched a majority of his rally speeches, interviews etc and he is just the type of leader we need.

When he gets elected, they will all want to be included! It is going to be awesome. Cruz could learn a lot!
