Is he still around?
Happy Birthday Mr Shultz!
GOP Establishment epitomized, but a smart and capable man. Happy Birthday.
I’ve always like “Peanuts”.
A man who served the United States proudly, with distinction, and never dishonored us in any way.
I’ll never forget the his tone of voice when Leslie Stahl asked him if President Reagan was in some way “apologizing for the American People.”
Secretary Schultz said “First of all, the President would never apologize for the American People.”
His demeanor shut her up; she didn’t pursue that subject.
That was in connection with the Bitburg episode.
Many (more) years!

"My policy is to neither confirm nor deny."
Got to remember who some of these men are!
Shultz was on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps 1942â1945. He was an artillery officer, attaining the rank of Captain. He was detached to the U.S. Army 81st Infantry Division during the Battle of Angaur (Battle of Peleliu).[4]
Yes, the famous Panther tattoo!
The Princeton Tiger has probably weathered into a pussycat?
Happy Birthday!
Happy 97th!
My grandfather and George Schultz were room mates in Saudi Arabia, when they both worked for Bechtel, which I believe was doing work for ARAMCO at the time.
I was in the 3rd grade (1965) enjoying Christmas, when an unexpected package arrived at my grandfather’s house, which my mother and two sister siblings of mine, shared with ‘Popo’. A mysterious man named George Schultz had sent Popo a brand spanking new pair of shiny cowboy boots all the way from Texas.
I remember the event quite clearly because my aunts and uncles reacted like it was kind of a big deal, and- I got a James Bond attache case for Christmas, which required me to be peeled off of the ceiling due to profound joy. A quirky but indelible joined memory of two events that I’ll have for the rest of my lucid life. Knock on wood.
Sadly, Popo died the following year on Good Friday. My grandmother (Nana) would be 100 were she to be alive right now, so that puts Popo right in there at a hundred or more years in age, were he to still be alive. Doing the math George would have been a spry 45 in 65, and Popo, at least 48.
In recollection, it seems that my grandfather died at the age of 52, so he would of been George’s senior by a mere seven years. Fond memories of two men, one that I knew dearly, and one that I wish I knew. Happy Birthday sir!
Happy 98th!
