He wasn’t the best Police Commissioner in Seattle, but Obama placed him as the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy and then nominated him for his current position. In the original legislation that established DHS it specifically stated that the Chief of the Border Patrol must have at least 10 years Border Patrol experience.

This was done to prevent an administration from appointing a party partisan HACK to the position.

I am not sure if they repealed that section bit I would like to know.
