One thing you might have noticed if you’ve followed the short history of Germany's migrant "miracle" is that citizens' celebratory mood (characterized initially by the "sweets, toys, and hugs" Syrian refugees received upon arriving in Germany after completing the increasingly arduous Balkan route) has gradually been replaced by a creeping skepticism towards the asylum seekers and towards the "iron chancellor's" open-door policy for refugees.

Perhaps I associated the remarks to which I responded to be the likelihood of a disarmed society rising with the weapons at hand to defeat the forces of a tyrannical government. Which does relate to the French Revolution, particularly so in Paris. If the remarks made were in reference to a rabble creating minor discord being overcome and controlled by government authorities, I yield the field to you and offer no further comment.

The government, like ours, is currently leftist leaning. That puts the police (who are simply following orders) firmly in the leftist camp, IMO.

That’s what my German friend swears. Ooh, they’ll be so great for the economy and enrich the diversity but they won’t change the basis of Germany. Snort, that was three days before they demanded the end of Octoberfest. Kumbaya! Sadly, he was to be my ticket out of Dodge. No way now. More likely he’ll get a rude awakening and have to bug out to me.
