Well this is Slate, and not Salon....and this is the most reasonable writer Slate has. He actually characterizes conservatives more accurately than 99% of the Jurassic Media.
This article is very balanced, and ends up on the side that there won’t be a coming Trump Cruz war. I think there will be at some point.....

I asked her an honest question on a Trump rally thread where she lied and dashed. I’m sorry that the only way to get her/his attention is posting on anther thread. This attacking the front runner has got to STOP.

Sorry to have to keep disappointing you, but attacking the people that are standing up for the only faintly conservative candidate on the scene is not a path to propriety.
Perhaps Trump has mesmerized you; it happens, that is how we end up with our enemies heading up our party’s ticket.
It won’t happen this time, he stands no chance whatsoever of being elected, because the majority have had his number for at least a decade.
