Country was founded by dudes who got on a ship to get the hell away from people like Muslim fundamentalists who didn’t want others to have their freedoms. They came here to get away from those people, not to bring them here too.
True. And I’d point out that just because the Founders didn’t want a state religion, does not mean they pretended all religions were the same or of equal good. If a shipload of human-sacrificing Aztecs had shown up in Philadelphia shortly after the Constitution was signed, what kind of idiot thinks the Founders would have reacted the way our leaders do today?
On facebook a few weeks ago I posted that we can love our neighbors without inviting potential killers to live with us and our families. I donated $1000 for refugee relief in Syria and challenged others to do the same. Of course all I got was crickets from the “you must hate Muslims if you don’t want them next to your family” crowd.
