Two “foreign speaking†men set off alarms after they entered the local Walmart store in Lebanon, Missouri and purchased 60 cellphones. The purchase was made around 4 AM last Saturday morning. Police were called but released the men saying they didn’t have a legal reason to detain them.

If a fellow knew the numbers of these phones he could have his computer call them randomly.
This would make anyone thinking of using them as detonators or whatever, very nervous.
If LEO’s and the FBI have any brains they will immediately put every IMEI on every phone purchased on a special watch list. At the very least this was a resupply run of burner phones. More likely it was an attack prep.
Problem is, the phones are burners.
The FBI won’t have any way to track the phones. Especially if the SIM cards are swapped before being used. The problem now is that the police told the guys that bought the phones that the FBI is investigating. They’ll ditch the phones, swap SIM cards, or use them to feed false information to the FBI. Now they certainly know not to buy 60 phones in bulk. So they won’t buy 60 again. They’ll buy 1 here, 4 here, 2 here, 5 here, etc. They know exactly what to expect now.
These terrorists are not stupid, they are organized, and financed at a high level.
The way to catch them is to order 24/7 surveillance of the men, any of their contacts, monitor their bank accounts, their social media, and internet activity. Know where they are every second. Then come down on them hard. Raid any mosques they visit.
Otherwise there is going to be a terrorist attack. Who am I kidding, there are going to be more terrorist attacks anyways on American soil but stopping one is better than letting all of them occur. This is probably one out of thousands of bulk phone purchases by muslims. This one got reported. How many haven’t? On that thought, how many muslims work at retail stores that would be glad to sell their brethren massive amounts of remote detonators, material to make bombs, etc? I consider any American muslim to be an enemy of the United States of America even if they so far have been outstanding citizens. They want to practice Shariah law. Every single one.

If our government cared about protecting us from terrorists, they’d have tagged every single one of those phones as a future intelligence asset. Given the (in)competence of our feral government, at every level, I doubt that happened.

It’s not illegal to buy 60 phones but I sure hope they followed them after they left the store.
Laz, perhaps you should take it upon yourself to tell these poor deluded ones that sheep cannot use a cellphone.

True story: A year or so after 911 I was at the QuickStop and I saw two young mideastern looking guys with a rental truck gassing up. They came inside and were talking very loud in what I took to be Arabic and I just got a hinky feeling. So I actually jotted down the license plate number etc and ran home and called the local FBI field office. The woman I spoke to listened to what I had to say and then she asked me about their accent. I said “well I think it was Arabic and I’m sure it was not Spanish” She sys to me and I’m not lying “Was it Mexican?” That’s when I knew we were screwed.

If they are muslim with an Arabic accent (of Middle Eastern origin), the chances are they will sooner or later.

I didn’t read the entire thread, but they also purchased, or attempted purchase of quantities in Columbia, where the nearest mosque is, and in Macon, where I work. I guess I need to keep a sharp eye out.
The news is all around me this week. The phones in the Macon Walmart, and a plane crash sunday night. I went flying monday, The FAA was there, etc. and the car of one of the crash victims was in the parking lot. I parked beside it, not knowing. The other victim lives in my town, but I didn’t know him. I was acquainted with his wife some years back. Her and I both served on a city board together.
Who would want to find Maine. The early pioneers decided rocks, bogs and poor climate was unfit for human habitation.
What could the police have held them for?
