BS! Nearly anyone who wants to can get ahead and move up in income, in spite of onerous taxation.
You did it, and I did it. But the reality it is a lot harder today for those coming behind us. Not so much taxation but regulation and other things.
There is even certification for burger flippers now days.

here in the state of Washington, you can't even park in a state gravel pit without having a special sticker on your car that you pay extra for...
look at the property taxes and the SS taxes and Medicare taxes on top of that, and then the income tax...
to be a citizen is a huge cost and it eats up most peoples income....
the illegals....not so much...
