Anyone from the Cincy area remembers Hudepohl beer's Christmas TV ads that said:

It's happy Hudy time, it's happy Hudy time...

Pronounced "who dee" Not sure where "who dey" comes from, but I always assumed it came from those ads.

And FFS, it likely came FROM black fans.

Who drank Hudepohl. And liked the Bengals.

I lived in the Queen City area for 15 years. I drank Hudy ($10.99 case longnecks), I ate goetta, Skyline, and Montgomery Inn. I loved it down there. The story I was told about “Who Dey?” was that it was from the Hudy ads. AND that is the only story I ever heard on the matter, never a mention of race.
