Who are his speech writers? Would be interesting to find out who helps Obama write such outlandish words.

“What could possibly be the argument for allowing a terror suspect to buy a semi-automatic weapon? This is a matter of national security.”

How about allowing a “work place violence” suspect from buying a weapon? That’s next.

Fort Hood in 2009? I thought he called that workplace violence.

I have perhaps a dumb question about that tactic of denying guns to those on the no-fly list. Assuming the Second and Fourth Amendment issues could be finessed, wouldn’t this require that the terrorist watch database be shared with the thousands of gun dealers across the country? And what might the dealer say to the prospective gun buyer? “I’m sorry, I can’t sell you a gun because the feds are watching you.” Wouldn’t this result in perhaps compromising investigations and surveillance? I just don’t see how this could work.

Cody Keenan. His main speech writer who he employed from the beginning, Jon Favreau, left a couple of years ago.

Not only that but if the the Second and Fourth Amendment issues could be finessed enough to make the no-fly list an acceptable parameter for rejecting a gun purchase it would remove most of the foreigners on the no-fly list. Less than 5% of the people on it are Americans.

What good would the no-fly list be then?

Good point. This suggestion by Obama seems to be a feel good, seat-of-the-pants idea that makes low information voters think he is doing something serious.

That is such a common MO with him that it is probably that and nothing more. It did occur to me that he is hoping to push Republicans into refining down the limits of the no-fly list until it is useless. He has to know that they will never allow it to be used to deny gun purchases as it currently exists.

Thanks so much, HollyB. Looks like he’s gone from the mail room to wording Obama’s delusions.

“Keenan’s political career began with an internship in the mail room of Ted Kennedy’s senate office in 2003, before going on to become the senator’s legislative aide.”

(from Wikipedia)

***Fort Hood in 2009? I thought he called that workplace violence***

You caught that too? Was that a big boo-boo by a speech writer or did someone finally make him tell the truth on that one. I’m thinking a big boo-boo.

Piracy, hijackings, extortion, torture, spectacular mass killings via suicides, “honor” killings, beheadings, stonings, slavery...

Only Obama could actually believe that radical Islamists have reached some sort of new low in violence with “American-style mass shootings.”

“So far, we have no evidence that the killers were directed by a terrorist organization overseas, or that they were part of a broader conspiracy here at home,”

Right, because they grew that $28K on the money tree they had in their garage next to the bomb making materials.
