Cincinna: I understand your concerns over Le Pen. But I want to ask you this: while she may be a statist and socialist within France, how will that party play out internationally? Will the party work to fight international jihad or will it just be for itself and everybody else can go to hell? Will it continue to be anti-American? or will the party be forced out of its cocoon?
Thanks for your comment. I am hearing from friends and family in France that they are very concerned about the rise of “les frontistes” They are in their 40’s and 50’s. They are all on the right, and voted for Sarkozys party les Republicains and will vote for them again on Sunday.
I would remind all those cheering on the Le Pen family that this is a totally dysfunctional family, playing out an embarrassing soap opera on the national scene with father against daughter, daughter rejecting father to appear more moderate. infighting to tear each other apart in public.
MLP is a Statist, her form of socialism~ national socialism. She is for INCREASING welfare benefits (for the French only) raising the benefits for working people, lower the retirement age to 60 (it is now 62) in short, she will not lower taxes, apply austerity to spending, and will bankrupt the system quickly.
She remains anti Anerican, as most with a totalitarian mentality are. She is against the free enterprise system. I find it interesting that she does not support Israel, but courts the votes of French Muslims.
I don’t believe MLP would not battle international jihad or do anything internationally. Her idea of France is France for the French period. You are right to call it their “cocoon”
The FN always grows and rises when there is a Socialist in power. First her father, under Mitterrand, then again in the election where the Jospin, socialist PM was killed off in the first round, running against Chirac for President and losing in a massive landslide. Now we have Hollande, a weak incompetent Socialist with less than 10% approval.
