NY Daily News Headline: God Isn't a Fixer but Man Is

In just five laughably arrogant and masterfully idiotic words: "God Is Not Fixing This," a newspaper crystalizes the great divide that separates Americans even more than does political party: the deep canyon between those who think God is indeed an able fixer, and those claiming that only Man and more of his gun laws can "fix" horrific attacks like the San Bernardino slaughter.

As soon as Republican presidential candidates offered up prayers on social media for the shooting victims, their families, and first responders, the paper reacted with a snide smackdown. Ridiculing religious believers has long been the secular left's favorite blood sport but here the New York Daily News sacrifices their onetime oh-so-pristine, uber politically correct safe zone lib credentials on the altar of shameful anti-God bigotry. They also viciously insult the nearly 80 percent of Americans who say they pray once a day or more, according to surveys by both Lifeway and Pew Research.

Unlike the Daily News, these prayer believers find that prayer works. God answers them. About 83 percent feel at least some of their prayers are answered, while 25 percent say all of them are. Everyone who has prayed for a loved one's successful surgery outcome, for peace in a personal dispute, for God's direction in choosing a job or a mate, knows that prayer works. And sometimes miracles happen; just ask a doctor.

Mostly, believers pray for family and friends about 82 percent. They pray for God's comfort, for healing, for less suffering, just as the Republican candidates prayed for the attack victims. Apparently the New York Daily News would rather the loved ones of the wounded and the dead just continue to suffer. And that's how very compassionately these secular "humanists" care about their fellow humans. They were probably seriously annoyed when the churches were filled with people turning to God after 9/11.

The paper's subhead betrays their alternative spirituality a boundless belief in government as savior and fealty to the left's first commandment: Thou Shalt Have NO Guns. It reads, "As the latest batch of innocent Americans are left lying in pools of blood, cowards who could truly end gun scourge continue to hide behind meaningless platitudes."

By "meaningless platitudes" they mean prayer, which many scientific studies over decades as well as individuals' personal experiences find to be incredibly effective. By "cowards" they mean Republican presidential contenders in the Senate who pray for the victims, namely Senators Cruz, Rubio and Paul. By "truly end gun scourge" they mean pass legislation that effectively ends our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Actually, the gun-haters in the media, the Democrat party, and the Daily News have it exactly backwards. Bad guys will always be able to get whatever weapons they choose. Proof: the cities with the strictest gun laws like Chicago, New York, and Detroit have the most gun crime. When bad guys are bent on massacre, they understandably prefer that they are the only ones with guns. They may be insane, but they're not stupid.

The school shooters fearlessly enter those school buildings and slaughter our children because the sign on the door says "no guns allowed." Maybe they can't read very well. The maniac in the Colorado theater massacre bypassed nearly a dozen theaters closer to his apartment and picked the one that banned guns. It's not that hard to figure out, even if you’re a foaming-at-the-brain, bullet-loathing liberal. As long as we choose to leave the defenseless undefended this will continue to happen.

And now a word about God for you New York Daily Newsers. Since God is omnipotent and omniscient and all, he can fix anything he chooses to. He fixed the Israelites slavery, freeing them from their Egyptian misery with a series of colorfully dramatic miracles. But God doesn't always choose to answer our prayers the way we would like. After all, Jesus didn't heal every blind man in Israel, only some of them.

The Apostle Paul who was God's ace traveling salesman begged the Lord he served for decades to cure him of a painful affliction. But instead God said, "My grace is sufficient for you." That would be a no. Christians, like Paul, trust our God to make the right decisions about our prayers because we know he loves us.

Because he loves us, he tries to fix us. Christians believe (as did the Founding Fathers who wrote restraints on power into the Constitution) that humanity is in a fallen condition, desperately in need of rescuing. God tried to fix that by offering up his only son to save us from our inherent evil. But it's up to us whether or not we accept his fix. God only knocks on the door, never forcing entry.

Despite the daily headlines proving the contrary, leftists believe Man is essentially good and a few hundred or a few thousand more laws will fix him, sending us all on the daisy path to earthly utopia.

This clash of world-views, God-believers versus unbelievers, will continue to become more vitriolic. (And no, Islam's God is not Christianity's God.) Today Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to be Christians according to decades of polling, and among those with no religious affiliation at all, 61% lean Democrat, the highest in over two decades of Pew surveys. Religious belief or lack of it drives worldview and thus political views in fundamental ways. And liberals are often more fundamentalist than Christians.

As for the New York Daily News, I will pray for you.

Headliner: God is trying to fix it, but Obama and the socialist/communists are in the way. Their arrogance, hard hearts, and pride are stumbling blocks to a peaceful, God loving society.

Day one: Slander and mock God.

Day two: Slander and mock the NRA.

Seems to me like the NRA is in pretty good company.

Just like Obama has “fixed” our country.

It’s true. Human beings have been killing one another since Cain killed Abel, and God has not chosen to “fix it.”

Plays well to the self-appointed brilliant, intellectual, psychotic Democrat base who believe in nothing, yet condemn those who believe in something.

(Dontcha know it’s Josef Stalin, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, and Daniel Ortega who saved the world and who are worshipped by an ever-expanding, juvenile, Democrat constituency?)

IMHO

No, I’m stating a fact. God gave humanity the freedom to choose obedience or evil. Humanity chose evil. Humanity has continued to choose evil, and God has allowed them to do so.

What is the alternative view? One could assert that God will “fix it”: that there will never again be another murder. However, that contention isn’t going to hold up for long.

You are aware though that the sixth Commandment is

"You shall not murder."

If you do, you will go to hell, unless you ask God for forgiveness. Which means God can be merciful if he chooses so.

The Old Testament is some pretty interesting reading.

You can see how the nation of Israel went back and forth - serving and being faithful to God - and being blessed immensely.
Then they start taking it for granted and stray; worshipping other gods and enjoying their sin - and God REMOVED His hand of blessing and protection and ALLOWED the consequences to follow.

Some blamed God, just like folks today do. But it was when the people REPENTED and turned BACK to the Lord that He would bring them out of their bondage and heal them and bless them.

Over and over we read about Israel going around and around the cycle and it makes you wonder why they didn’t learn after the first so many times.

But then you realize that we here in the USA are going over that cliff for its first time. And most folks don’t get what will heal this desperately sick nation.
We don’t want to bow to God. We think we ARE gods.
