Ted Cruz Is the One Candidate Who Can Face down Washington — And Win [NRO!!!]

To protect American national security we must first understand what threatens American national security. We must grasp who our enemies are, what animates them, and how they work together - despite their internecine rivalries - to destroy us from without and within. We must stop trying to define "true Islam" and start restoring our own principles as our guide: liberty, equality of opportunity, the rule of law, and peace through strength.

The vast majority of Americans still believe in these principles. It is Washington that has lost faith. It is Washington that looks at liberty's enemies and sees friends; that looks at anti-Western Islamic supremacists and sees "moderates" it can play ball with; that looks at lawbreakers and tut-tuts that "the system is broken."

Reinvigorating American principles will require taming Washington. It calls for restoring the Constitution as a vital limit on government, not a relic...or an obstacle. Ted Cruz gets this. Many Republicans talk the talk - we hear it in every election season, right up until it is time to stop campaigning and start governing. Senator Cruz walks the walk. That is why I believe he should be the next president of the United States.

No surprise.

Trolling “questions” that are in reality shoddily presented lies often get such a response.

We learn from experience (or at least should)

I agree with you about the Reagan democrats but I think Trump’s appeal is far greater than just them.

I went to the Trump rally in Knoxville. It was held at the convention center which is very close to the University of TN campus.

I was astounded at how many college age people were there.

The turn out was upwards of 10,000 and I would guess nearly a third were in their twenties.

We went to dinner after and sat in a booth behind a table of college students. I eavesdropped, of course, and they were all talking about how much they like Trump and think he is the answer to the economy and their being able to get a job once out of school.

The GOP leadership has yet to reveal the results of their polling in tabulated form, but looking at their actions it appears that Cruz is their chief concern.

Cruz will NEVER be what Trump is...he can try and copy Trump but Trump is self made, and NO ONE can copy him, or even come close to him...the media can’t take him down, because the media didn’t make him, Trump made himself; the candidates can all try to be like Trump, but can’t because they don’t understand what’s it like to be on the other side....the candidates other than Carson are ‘politicians’ and that is why we like Trump, he’s self made, self owned and your man Cruz isn’t, he is OWNED!!!

He has no answer for reality.

Reality is obviously not one of his concerns.

Well the results of the national as well as state by state polling is pretty well in the public domain by numerous pollsters. Its Dec and Trump is running away with it. What momentous event does anybody think will happen to derail that?

Cruz and Rubio are going to be sidelined duking it out for a distant 2nd place while Trump cruises across the finish line. Unless Cruz gets lucky and The Rubio mistress scandal hits the front page. Then he’s the distant 2nd so still no ceegar.

Cruz supporters are just repelling the bizarre emotionalism that fuels Trump-ism, by pointing out the real world facts.

And you seem to be fundamentally incapable of accepting Trump supporters do not agree with your extrapolation from those ''facts.''

Honestly, your intransigence can only be compared to a disappointed teenager whose only refrain is ''you just don't understand.''

Other adults can only take so much of that before reacting with contempt and derision.

"One thing I have to caution voters on - and this applies to supporters of all candidates, not just Trump - beware of the pretty speech, the candidate who says what you want to hear. Obama could deliver pretty speeches too. People believed in him and look at the almost 8 year nightmare we've been enduring.'

I realize you probably mean well but this just strikes me as arrogant and insulting.

Cruz supporters have been assuming Trump supporters go for anything sparkly and shiny and have no reasons for supporting Trump.

You talk about doing a little research on Cruz but you and other Cruz supporters would do well to take your own advice.

There are many reasons I support Donald Trump and I came to those reasons from doing research.

I didn't just take the word of some crackpots on FR and I didn't take the word of dishonest media.

I read his books, I read books about him, I listen to his speeches, that he gives nearly every day, and I' read stories of his history and where he comes from.

I would put my knowledge about Trump up against any Cruz supporter's knowledge about Cruz.

I'm not asking you to change your support to Trump but I am asking you and others, you know who you are, to quit treating Trump supporters like we are idiots or children that have no idea what they are doing.

Honestly, you don't help Cruz by doing it.

We have an election winner that we are going with.

You mean like Rubio, Jeb, Kasich, and Chritie who also won elections? .

Replies like yours piss me off to no end.

I’ve already proven you guys post a bunch of mean-spirited crap.

I was doing just fine on my own, and I sure as hell don’t need some mean-spirtied SOB thinking he has to provide even more proof.

My proof is more than enough to make my point, so get the hell out of the way.

Is it just me, or are the Cruz supporters on FR, some of the most obnoxious and angry people on here? Amazing that many of his supporters embody so many of the qualities of the left’s supporters.

It's not just you as I notice the same. The sad thing is that most Trump supporters have Cruz as their second choice. I'm certainly one of them. But I believe Trump has a better chance in the general election, which is why I'm hoping he prevails. Cruz is just 44 and will have additional chances and hopefully broader support at a later time. We hard core conservatives will crawl through broken glass to vote for Cruz if he is nominee, but most of the others, who would otherwise support Trump, will gravitate to the Democrats or not vote at all. There is something about Cruz that turns a lot of moderates and women off. Hopefully he can fix that image in the coming years.

There are no unbiased, non propaganda polls available to the public.

Most of the “polls” have been done for media buyers that very much want Trump to spoil conservative chances, and then fall in a hole.

No its not just you.

I really like Cruz and even sent him donations but because of the way Cruz supporters act on FR I stopped sending them and am not even sure I want Cruz as VP any longer.

They are not helping their candidate and refuse to see it.
