In Shi'a Islam,[1] taqiya (تقیة taqiyyah/taqīyah) is a form of religious dissimulation, or a legal dispensation whereby a believing individual can deny his faith or commit otherwise illegal or blasphemous acts, especially while they are in fear or at risk of significant persecution.

Wonder if this dude pretended to fit in in order to deceive his co workers before murdering them. This whole thing was premeditated, of course. I sincerely doubt everything was hunky dory and suddenly he decided to go out and murder his whole work group. How can anyone discuss this case, hoping to understand it, and not mention the taqiya concept?
