Hillary Clinton praised female musicians who offer young girls a positive role model, writing that none of these singers "had success handed to her" in a Thursday op-ed for Billboard magazine.
The Democratic presidential front-runner says she's a fan of artists including Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Demi Lovato and Missy Elliott, women whose "talent is dazzling" and matched by their work ethic.
"They all had to keep at it, even in the face of failure and discouragement - they kept singing, kept writing, kept getting better and better," Clinton wrote.
"They did it because they knew they had something special to offer the world. They knew their stories and points of view were worth sharing. And they were absolutely right about that."
Clinton also lauded some of the world's best-selling pop stars for their work promoting social improvements outside of their performing careers.
"Wonderfully, many of these women are channeling their success in thoughtful and generous ways," she wrote. "They're starting foundations, mentoring girls and enthusiastically advocating for causes close to their hearts - everything from improving mental healthcare to registering people to vote."
Clinton argued that celebrities like Gaga, Del Rey and Selena Gomez are potentially inspiring the next round of chart-toppers across the globe.
"My hope is that women and girls around the world will hear these artists' songs, learn their stories and feel a greater sense of possibility for their own lives," the former first lady said.
Clinton's op-ed serves is a preview for the Billboard's Women in Music event taking place in New York City on Dec. 11 before airing on Lifetime as Dec. 18. Del Rey, Gaga, Gomez and Lovato are all performing.
female musicians who offer young girls a positive role model...
*Bubba would hit it...
I have heard that she is partial to women.
I do hope this doesnt mean that she’s going to have a Premier as a SInger!!!
She’s hoping flattery will get her in their pants.
Nice...she promotes immoral women as role models for our kid and grandkids. This makes Hillary a pervert herself. Unreal. She just wants the money they will give her.
Hillary’s game plan is obvious and simple - ‘I’m female like you. Vote for me.’
With that in mind it should be relatively easy to counter.
One thing we SHOULD know by now - slinking away like Rick Lazio did after being scolded for picking on a woman will not work.
I can almost hear her army of focus group consultants now. “We need to make you more relevant to the young voter. You need to pull an Obama and start talking about how you like the musicians that young people like. And make them female artists so that we can leverage this into your “women’s issues” theme. No, its not Lady Gag. Its Lady Gaga. G-A-G-A. Don’t worry about what it means, just go with it.”
Someone photoshopped that pic. She was actually wearing a pantsuit.
Those are role models?
She forgot Amy Winehouse and Courtney Love.
Demi Lovato is a model citizen I could mould with my bare hands...
Cankles would rather talk about anything other than Benghazi, emails, islamic terrorism, her rapist husband, her lying, her age and health, so she talks about these pop culture losers to her low-information cult following.
Mylie Cyrus jut did a naked shoot where she’s doing the Madonna hairy pits look. Nasty then, nasty now.
Lana Del Rey may not be a social conservative, but she’s made it clear that she isn’t a feminist and believes in Catholicism.
Of course, her identity is also a stage persona, I doubt Cankles is even aware of that.
And, he hopes they are all interns if the she wolf wins.
He has written a book, Lights Out. It deals with cyberwar and hacking into the software that controls the electric grid (George is an activist about EMP's). The two are related but different.
They didn't talk politics other than relevant to protecting the grid before it is too late.
Ted was concerned about the candidates. The only thing he said were words to the effect that it is critical that we have someone with experience.
I had the awful feeling he would support Hillary. He said we should put partisanship so much into politics. She's got experience on paper but has f'ed up about everything she did. The only accomplishment I might possibly credit her with was getting some money for the Ground Zero workers which would have been more or less a slam dunk under the circumstances.
Trump only has experience in politics from the other side. Carson has none. Carly might have a little, can't remember. Cruz, Jeb, Kasich, Christie and Ron Paul have some.
Last nite, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., was on, about vaccines. It was very interesting. But he's probably a diehard dem, too. Going in, he actually answered some questions about the deaths of JFK and his father. George handled it very adroitly.
I thought Lada Gaga was a tramp, don't know about the others, don't want to. Unfortunately, I don't know if many young people know the difference.
I am still not convinced she is female.
Yeah she’s got the pulse of America
