I must admit I have a grudging but growing admiration for Donald Trump*. He has a way of saying things thatâs like popping the clutch on a â73 Z28 Camaro with a 350 V8. Everybody hears the screech, sees the smoke, and then it leaves a long skid mark.
Trumpâs enduring claim that âthousands and thousandsâ of Muslims celebrated in New Jersey after the World Trade Center towers fell on Sep. 11, 2001 was at first ridiculed. The New York Times published âA Definitive Debunking of Donald Trumpâs 9/11 Claimsâ just three days after Trump made his remarks in Birmingham, Ala.
That should have been the end of it, but it wasn't.
Trump had said, âHey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering.â
On its face, thereâs a few obvious things. Number one, Trump didnât watch in Jersey City, as in bodily present. He claims he saw it on television, like hundreds of millions of Americans would have seen it. Number two, âthousands and thousandsâ of people werenât cheering in Jersey City. Trump was wrong.
Normally, from any mortal politician, this would be a death knell: A horrific gaffe with no possible recovery. But Trump isnât a mortal politician.  He makes over-the-top, off-the-cuff statements, refuses to back down, and then forces the press to dig, dig, dig to disprove something obviously untrue, but with enough of a hint of truth that it never really goes away.
In this way, Trump forces his agenda (planned or unplanned) on all of us. He ignites discussion of topics considered too un-P.C. to discuss otherwise. He makes the mainstream media operate outside their âsafe spaceâ in obvious discomfort.
And somewhere deep down inside, I love it.
At first I was really skeptical and angry that Trump stuck his foot in his mouth again. But the more that these things progress and have a life of their own, the more I see that Trump starts conversations nobody else would ever have (or would be shut down before it even started).
Now, the truth is coming outâthe truth thatâs always existed and many have known from personal experienceâthat there were celebrations. People saw them with their own eyes. Former NYC Mayor Giuliani confirms they happened. Television reports from days after the attacks talk about them using words like âswarming.â
No, there weren't "thousands and thousands" of Muslims jumping up and down like footage from Gaza and the West Bank would suggest, but there were small pockets. Exactly how many small pockets and what the total number was is something nobody ever thought to discuss. Trump made his bombastic statement and suddenly everyone is parsing old reports and footage. It might turn out that there were hundreds and hundreds, but that's more than the narrative being played by the Left: that there were basically none, and Islamic radicalism isn't significant in our country.
Islamic radicalism is significant, and is also extremely relevant in America, and we should acknowledge that only Trump could bring that to the forefront like he did with immigration. The guy is alike a drunken sailor continually falling into a pit filled with treasure, and the media can't stand it.
*No that doesn't mean I'd like to see Trump become president. Â That's a gap far too wide for me to cross. Â But he'd make an ideal Secretary of Shut-Up Stupid, if that became a real cabinet position. Â I'd vote for a Department of Shut-Up Stupid, by the way--give it the EPA's entire budget.
Move on, it ain’t workin’
When do the rumors of affairs start? Or quite possibly the Donald on tape saying something very bad... It’s coming.
I grew up and lived in NYC till 2012. I’ve had Mudslimes tell me to my face on NUMEROUS occasions the US deserved 911, so it doesn’t take a genius to know they celebrated. And this Kenyan puke is deliberately importing more of these bugs. Any of these Syrian “refugees” kill anybody, the people should take up arms and flood Washington to demand the immediately arrest of B. Hussein on charges of high treason. This guy is deliberately and knowingly importing terrorists and WHY should he get off scot free if they kill?
Even if it never happened they will say it did, pound it to death and vilify him with the tacit backing of the GOPe.
It’s beginning to look like we will never hear of this again, except from the campaign with paid time.
Trump speaks the truth. America trusts Trump....much more than the lying MSM.
And they say Trump can't be President...ha ha ha ha....he's smarter than any one running, leading this country or anyone else...
GO.TRUMP.GO!!!
“American Muslims”
That is a misnomer. Muslims are NOT Americans, and Americans are not Muslims. They are two different things and mutually incompatible. It’s like saying the Sun is cold.
JMHO.
Don’t know which is worse, celebrating 9/11 or voting democrat?

The celebrants are the ‘moderate’ muslims the left loves to talk about.
I agree, and that is the simple heart of the matter. I remember seeing news clips of American Muslims celebrating, but I could not tell you how many or where from my own memory.
Extending that simple truth, Americans have finally seen through the alternate reality created collectively by the MSM, Obama, the Democratic Party, Federal Government bureaucrats and the GOPe. All have been proven repeatedly to be serial liars. I am not a big fan of Trump, but certainly he is vastly more honest than the government cartel's illusion complex consisting of those listed above.
The filthy, disgusting, lefthandasswipes hate this country, and that is why the media is protecting them.
Yep, Trump is good at connecting the dot. Showing how all this is related.
The press could have done it, but they think their job is to ERASE the dots, so no one connects them!
But millions of people saw the news coverage at the time and KNEW Trump was right. That thousands of muslims CELEBRATED after 9-11. Were they all in New Jersey? Beside the point, in my opinion, I saw video of Muslim celebrating in MANY places, dancing in the streets ect.
It’s one of the MAIN reasons I have advocated a MASSIVE response from the get go!
What we got instead was us building schools for them!
So true!
With one stone, namely the nj muslim celebration on 9/11, Trump hits three birds:
- islamic terrorism
- suicidal immigration policies
- media anti-americanism and dishonesty
This is a great example of Trump’s ability to generate so much goodness out of so little.
It’s a huge return on so little investment.
Trump knows how to deploy resources, both in the commercial and political realms.

Like his dialog re illegals coming into this country!
Trust your first instincts, please. Trump is a bad and dangerous risk.
That would actually be a good start. :^)
