It would be somewhat logical if she was speaking from the perspective of Hillary’s dishonesty benefitting the nation, which is probably what she believes. But her opening paragraph sets the framework of honesty in general, not whether it is damaging or beneficial.
If the Democrats did not fear a Trump nomination/Presidency, they wouldn’t be writing such articles asking him to step down. If they knew he was beatable, they would be propping him up and supporting a nomination.
