(This is a good response to this subject.) You were doing so well up to here. What exactly are these “blatantly untrue statements”? Is it that there were people in NJ celebrating the fall of the World Trade Center. No amount of dissembling from Glenn Kessler (WaPo’s fact checker) can negate that the story was reported in the Washington Post. Trump may have exaggerated (hardly surprising), but the core of the story is true. How about mocking Kovaleski? Also untrue, despite attempts to freeze frame Trump’s hand motions to make it appear so. The proof is simple: watch any video of Kovaleski talking — he doesn’t jerk around. Or maybe it‘s the trope that Trump is against immigrants, when he is against *illegal* immigration (I say this as someone trying to immigrate to the US. Legal immigrants are vehemently opposed to illegal immigrants).

Given all that, and the increasingly hysterical Trump= Hitler op-eds, it doesn’t appear to be a noble, truthful, media trying to debunk Trump; it’s a media trying to push its own narrative, in whatever means possible. It’s pissed that Trump is determining the terms of engagement, while it cries, “How dare you try to subvert us, we of the enlightened media, we are the one supposed to be choosing the candidate, dammit!”

People who already don’t trust the media are seeing their distrust writ large when it actively misrepresents Trump, and uses tools like biased “fact checkers” to support their claims (I used to run a site that watched the fact checkers, so I am very aware of the ways they manipulate their willing audience). But the media is not guardians of their “truth” any more. The more they sneer, mock, condescend, call him names, manipulate event reporting, and outright lie, the more he captures the people’s disgust, and the more likely he is to win.

Yeah, I don’t think the MSM understands the consequences of their actions.

I hope Jim gets the weird ascii stuff fixed, it’s so frustrating to read these posts that I just give up midstream and go to another article...
