The differences of ALL religions from Islam, end up being far greater than any incidental similarities.
Almost all other religions have an underlying doctrine of forgiveness and mercy, and the underlying expectation that, with time and growing familiarity, those not of that religion could come to understand and believe what the practitioners of that religion already do as a matter of course and training. Not that that religion would wish one would convert (some of the other religions have strong resistance to proselytes), but that at least a sort of mutual respect and tolerance would grow between various belief systems.
Islam, on the other hand, has a “My way or DIE!” attitude, and their “tolerance” is limited to, “Well, you can keep your religion, but only if you acknowledge that your god is a lesser God than Allah, as revealed to the Prophet Mohammed Ali, and keeping to a true interpretation of that prophecy.”
Failure to acknowledge what, to them, is the “very obvious” superiority of Allah, is cause enough for killing (preferably by beheading, but other means are perfectly satisfactory, too) the “Kufir” or infidels. Even the wrong interpretation of what Allah may have revealed to Mohammed, is reason enough to slaughter the poor fool who chose to believe the “wrong path”. And trying to leave Islam, a crime known as apostasy, is also considered to be worthy of no less than a death sentence.
The truth is, Muslims are in far greater danger from OTHER Muslims, than they may ever be from any non-Muslim they may encounter. Islam is not a real religion, by any means, but they do make up a broad and sometimes inflexible ideology.
That ideology (expressed as Shari’ah law) is almost entirely incompatible with any other civilized system anywhere, and is not subject to reforming itself in any way.
“Righteous” is not at all the same thing as “right”. The bearded men with the burning eyes do not share a moral compass with the majority of people.
