Russian and Syrian military have killed terrorists in the search area of the downed Russian Su-24 jet, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"The moment our pilot was in safety the area was heavily bombed by the Russian Air Force and shelled by Syrian government forces artillery," ministry spokesman General-Major Igor Konashenkov told a media briefing.

He stressed that terrorists and other "mysterious groups" were killed in the assault.

The Russian Air Force base in Latakia has been reinforced with an S-400 SAM system, which was deployed on Thursday.

"Now we are going to ensure the safety of our planes fighting against ISIS militants and other terror groups by taking more reliable measures," Konashenkov said.

The Kurds can sleep peacefully now.

L’il Barack would not dare do it himself, if only because he would not want the Rooskies getting any assassination ideas, but there could be a web of support leading to him. It would kind of fit with the American tradition of trying to fight wars for the Western way via proxy.

Let's hope CAIR had some people in the vicinity.

Probably relatives.

... except now, what had been the Western way, the Jihadis have wormed their way into. We is compromised. Bad. It would probably take the willingness of a Trump or a Cruz to tell the presence of such a compromise to begone.

The Kurds have been getting the short end of the stick for more like a century!

Also I’d say even in such a suicide scenario for the US, that doesn’t mean it’s a Jihadist victory against White Christians, unless present Russians aren’t largely some variety of White Christian. Orthodox church to be sure, and there seems to be little love lost between them and the Protestant/Catholic axis of most of US Christian faith. That could change though. As is said, no atheists in foxholes.

I think even Putin knows that general America is now not supporting Barack’s tantrums, and would tend to go easy on it. However he will not brook Barack rolling a red carpet for Jihadists up to the Kremlin’s door.

It’s not going to be a matter of whether Christ and His believers win... it will only be a question of how.

I think Ivan proved their belief in the concept of “Total War” during WWII.

These desert monkeys probably have no concept of what they are dealing with. They will be screaming and begging for the USA before long.

Russian national pride was a lot of the fuel that made it go, and because their country and its fighting force was so awesomely big. Retrospects on WWII show that they often did not fight even as vigorously as they theoretically could have. Size mattered.

Well, I would have to say you are more correct than I, as the Kurds suffered equally with the Armenians at the hands of the Turks.

I was referencing the results of American foreign policy(?) from the close of the Reagan administration on.

Interesting allusion, eh?

I think the Turks were up to something inside Syrian territory in that target area

...through the area where the second plane was downed.
************************************
Only one plane was shot down, by a Sidewinder missile from an F-16. The search and rescue helicopter looking for the two pilots was later hit with a Tow missile when it was on the ground.

So can that scumbag Assad. Maybe.

Assad, his father, a large part of the Egyptian Military, and past Egyptian Presidents are all that has kept the Muslim Brotherhood, and the World Caliphate at bay for the last half century.

About 15% of the planet can sleep peacefully because a large part of the MB is dead and can't kill them in their sleep.

That is, until recently when Obama and "Arab Spring" revived them.

Check in with the White Hut, maybe you can help them get Assad.

With me, you got a complaint, take a number.

Correct, I overlooked their plight, forgetting there is a border on the other side of Syria, too.

I don’t check in with the White Hut, much as I hope you do not check in with the Kremlin. See how that works?

“I read that “scumbag Asad’ told the Kurds they can keep the villages they liberate in Syrian Kurdistan ...”

Lots of chatter today of some kind of a deal brokered by Putin between the Kurds and Assad to officially recognize an Independent Kurdistan that includes some areas of Eastern Syria.

And it seems some advanced Russian weapons “Fell off of an Anatov” near the YPG in the last couple of days.

Based on social media reporting the RUAF is providing some pretty heavy air support to the YPG and they are going all the way to the border

I have no idea where 50 US special operators sent to SYRIA to assist “ Kurds” are supposed to find a niche here but God bless them for following the orders of a questionably rational CINC and a spineless pentagon

If they indeed link up with Turkmen or “ FSA’ factions then they face death imo, with what us now going on

Daily Mail Online reports that Putin accuses the U.S. of giving the Turks the flight information of the doomed combat jet that enabled to Turks to set up an ambush
Likely Erdogan screwed up however, he was probably supposed to down a Russian jet well inside Turkey to set up an escalation
