Donald Trump under fire for mocking disabled reporter

Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has been criticised for mocking a disabled New York Times reporter.

Mr Trump performed an impression of Serge Kovaleski, who suffers from a congenital joint condition, at a rally.

He has used a 2001 article by Mr Kovaleski to back up widely disputed claims that "thousands" of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the 9/11 attacks.

The New York Times called Mr Trump's actions "outrageous".

I have observed that in everything “controversial” that Trump says or does, the bottom line is he is telling this nation to “man up”. Everyone, whether they’re disabled or a POW or a hyphenated American, just man up and stop boo hooing like a victim. THAT is a concept we haven’t seen demonstrated in a long, long time.

I agree, I think it’s very likely that Trump had no idea the guy was physically disabled. He was mocking his ideological disablement.

A lot of people (ie: voters) are just going to be turned off by making fun of characteristics the individual has no control over and which rightly deserve a sympathetic understanding by people of good character.

I love Trump’s fearless war against PC garbage, but I really think this kind of thing is the wrong kind of behavior for a President. It’s one thing to make fun of their ridiculous ideas, but making fun of a person’s illness or appearance is really not the behavior of the kind of gentleman or lady I want for Presiden

You both and a few others have pointed out that he wasn’t actually mocking the reporter’s physical characteristics. If that is the case, I am mistaken. It just appears very much like he is mocking him that way. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong.

Are you falling for that old MSM trick of photo freezing one split second? I watched BBC’s whole 41 second video. Trump is not mocking the guy's disability. For that matter, if MSM didn't bring it up, I wouldn't have known the reporter was disabled. This tells me, that this is a hit piece.

During the American Revolution the Brit Army wore pretty uniforms with red tunics and fought in neat rows like “perfect gentlemen.” The Colonists wore “uniforms” that were often rags and they hid behind rocks and trees to slaughter the pretty rows of gentlemen Redcoats.

The Brits lost the war.

Today America is in a war against an enemy far more dangerous than any army we have previously faced. Our enemy is a determined, fanatical domestic enemy that has won battle after battle after battle.

A ‘gentleman” is not going to stop much less defeat this enemy.
