The 2001 liberal press wasted no time in covering up what people were seeing. Just like they do now in 2015. Some things never change.

BTW, it’s irrelevant whether or not Trump remembers something correctly; the issue here is how the liberal scum media is trying to take one of our guys down. Again, some things never change.

And far away from the scene, the AP found itself in a tense situation with the Palestinian authorities. A free-lance photographer who captured images of Palestinians celebrating the attacks was apprehended by officials and told the material must not air. Phone calls in the name of the Tanzim Militia, an armed group associated with Yassar Arafat’s Fatah group, made threats on his life, and Arafat’s cabinet secretary said the Palestinian Authority could not “guarantee the life” of the cameraman if the footage was shown. As a result AP didn’t release the footage.

For days, an E-mail had circulated concerning the newsreel footage, first shown on CNN, of Palestinians celebrating in East Jerusalem in the hours after the attack; it was ten-year-old videotape, several people assured me, recycled from the Gulf War, when Iraqi missiles landed in Israel. (After I returned to New York, I checked CNN’s Web site, where conclusive evidence was posted that the claim of hoax was a hoax.)

Since the F.B.I. raid, community relations in Jersey City - which has a population of 240,000, 20 percent of whom are Arabs or of Arab descent - have deteriorated, and Jersey City has become rife with rumors: about Muslim celebrations in the wake of the trade center attacks, about violence against Muslim residents, about who might have been involved in the terror, who might have harbored conspirators.

Investigators also say they have no evidence of Arab-Americans publicly celebrating the September 11 terror attacks, despite numerous reports of such incidents over radio talk shows, via e-mail and in water-cooler conversations.

Accounts of Arab celebrations emanated from areas in Queens, Brooklyn and northern New Jersey that stand within view of the World Trade Center site, and from as far away as Detroit and St. Louis. The rumors sent law enforcement agents to Arab and Muslim neighborhoods and businesses.

In Paterson, N.J., home to the East Coast’s largest Arab-American community, police started receiving calls about street celebrations early on September 11, said Lt. Tony Traina of the Paterson Police Department. “Police responded to each call about a gang cheering,” although “no one was demonstrating,” he said, “except for out-of-towners coming in and waving the American flag.”

A police spokesman in Jersey City, Edgar Martinez, said that the police department there had not received any calls, despite news reports that police had questioned several people seen holding rooftop parties while they watched the aftermath of the terrorist attacks.

New Jersey State Police did stop five men near East Rutherford, N.J., on September 11, whose van matched the description of a vehicle whose occupants, witnesses said, had been celebrating and acting suspiciously that morning, according to Sgt. Al Della Fave. Police turned the men over to the FBI for questioning. The INS was reportedly checking their immigration status but were no longer investigating the alleged celebration.
