Thanksgiving: Are You Thankful That God Has Provided Free Republic?
It's a simple question. It can be answered immediately with a yes or a no.
If yes, then let me encourage you to support this site that offers you a chance to have your say unhindered by the establishment trolls found on most other websites.
Why thankful to God?
Of course, we're thankful first for His providing us with salvation, with abundant blessings, with families, with freedom to practice our faith.
But, you know, and I know that Free Republic does not infringe on any of those blessings but actually enhances them. This is a pro-God, pro-small government website.
So, my friends, it is Thanksgiving and we're thankful for so much, and that includes thankfulness for Free Republic. If we weren't, we wouldn't be posting and debating day after day to influence the direction of this country, so that those blessings of liberty remain for us and our posterity.
That fight must extend to preserving your voice here on Free Republic, because that voice gets heard in the larger world. Free Republic is REGULARLY cited, or obviously heeded, by movers and shakers in media, politics, business, and the military.
Did you know that Free Republic stays advertisement free because it is supported by the donations of its users and not by advertisements sold to corporations who would then try to influence what gets said here and allowed here? Your donation is what makes this site available.
Will you fight to preserve that voice you've been provided by Free Republic? Are you that thankful?
If so, then send a donation to Free Republic today. Don't delay. Send it now. Every $5 adds up. The result will be the preservation of your voice continuing to be heard around the world.
Psalm 107:1 "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!"
Thank you!!

Thanksgiving
Almost anything can serve as a stuffing, many popular Anglo-American stuffings contain bread or cereals, usually together with vegetables, herbs and spices, and eggs. Middle Eastern vegetable stuffings may be based on seasoned rice, on minced meat, or a combination. Other stuffings may contain only vegetables and herbs. Some types of stuffing contain sausage meat, or forcemeat, while vegetarian stuffings sometimes contain tofu.
Oysters are used in one traditional stuffing for Thanksgiving. These may also be combined with mashed potatoes, for a heavy stuffing. Fruits and dried fruits can be added to stuffing including apples, dried prunes, apricots, and raisins. In England, a popular stuffing is sausage meat seasoned with various ingredients, sage, onion, apple, etc.
The stuffing mixture may be cooked separately and served as a side dish, in which case it may still be called 'stuffing', or in some regions, such as the Southern US, 'dressing'

Thankful for Free Republic.
Thankful for the hundreds of good people here. We can make America great again with God’s help!
Thanksgiving
The American Thanksgiving also has its origin in the faith practices of Puritan New England, where strict Calvinist doctrine sanctioned only the Sabbath, fast days and thanksgivings as religious holidays or "holy days." To the Puritans, a true "thanksgiving" was a day of prayer and pious humiliation, thanking God for His special Providence. Auspicious events, such as the sudden ending of war, drought or pestilence, might inspire a thanksgiving proclamation. It was like having an extra Sabbath during the week. Fasts and thanksgivings never fell on a Sunday. In the early 1600s, they were not annual events.
Simultaneously instituted in Plymouth, Connecticut and Massachusetts, Thanksgiving became a regular event by the middle of the 17th century and it was proclaimed each autumn by the individual Colonies.

Thanksgiving
The green bean casserole was first created in 1955 by the Campbell Soup Company.
Dorcas Reilly led the team that created the recipe while working as a staff member in the home economics department. The inspiration for the dish was 'to create a quick and easy recipe around two things most Americans always had on hand in the 1950s: green beans and Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup.'
In 2002, Reilly presented the original recipe card to the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio.

Thanksgiving
Myth: The Pilgrims wore only black and white clothing. They had buckles on their hats, garments and shoes.
Fact: Buckles did not come into fashion until later in the seventeenth century and black and white were commonly worn only on Sunday and formal occasions. Women typically dressed in red, earthy green, brown, blue, violet, and gray, while men wore clothing in white, beige, black, earthy green, and brown.

Thanksgiving
The cornucopia (from Latin cornu copiae) or horn of plenty is a symbol of abundance and nourishment, commonly a large horn-shaped container overflowing with produce, flowers or nuts. The horn originates from classical antiquity, it has continued as a symbol in Western art, and it is particularly associated with the Thanksgiving holiday in North America.

Making new family traditions
Make a Thankful Jar
If you have a few weeks to prep for Thanksgiving, try instituting a *thankful jar* in a prominent place in your home. Leave a stack of sticky notes and a pen beside the jar, and ask your family to contribute notes to the jar whenever they feel grateful. Whether it is being thankful for soccer practice or gratitude toward a family member for helping with chores, it just takes a couple of minutes to scribble a note and drop it in the jar.
Then, at Thanksgiving dinner, you can take each note out and read it aloud.
