Yes, there would be a record in the form of voice recordings. This happened in a matter of seconds - some say 17 secs - as the Russian jet crossed over a tiny finger of ridges, claimed by Turkey, which extend into Syria. It was a timed ambush on what apparently was a well known route used by Russian pilots to engage Jihadis in northern Syria who are allies of Turkey.

With so many opposing forces in such close proximity, it was bound to happen. I look for it to happen again as things continue to heat-up in the region. There is a real danger we could be in a worldwide ho holds-barred shooting war in just a matter of a days over the M.E. Worse, there are actors in this who are egging it on.
