I heard that the U.S. removed it’s patriot air defense system from Turkey a couple months ago? Why didn’t the SU-24 drop flares and chaff if being followed by F-16’s? They obviously didn’t anticipate such Turkish aggression..
Neither. Whatever Putin does to Turkey is of no concern. We need to avoid a NATO entanglement but we can use some loophole to get out of that.

Putin is not gonna start World War 3 because he knows that a country with a GDP the size of Texas has no chance of surviving let alone winning a nuclear exchange with the US and our European allies. Putin is just as big an asshole as Obama, Erdogan and the leaders of the European NATO countries but Putin fwill not be risking his two months at the dacha for one bomber, all the drama queens here at FR not withstanding.
