9/11 was traumatic for everyone here. People thought a meat truck had crashed when they saw the carnage on the ground. I remember walking home from work on the 13th and seeing a long line of ambulances going up 8th Avenue slowly, like a funeral procession, heading for the morgue at Roosevelt Hospital. It stays with you.
We were put in conference rooms with TVs at work on the 11th until they were sure as they could be that it was safe for us to go home.
May Trump lead us through these dangerous times to a better future for America.
911. I recall being at work when the planes hit. We were told to sign off early (AIG employees) so that the phone lines would have less activity.
I was sent home early too. When I checked my answering machine I had a message from my sons ex-girlfriend in NYC, it was HAUNTING. I can’t even describe how her voice sounded. I played it back over and over for months. It always made me cry. About the smoke, and the sounds and the emptiness of the area.
I’ll never recall the exact words, but I will never forget how the message made the situation in NYC so very real to me.
