Attorneys for the 14-year-old Muslim boy arrested after taking a homemade clock to his Dallas-area school say he was publicly mistreated and deserves $15 million.
They also say his rights were ignored.
A law firm representing Ahmed Mohamed sent letters Monday demanding $10 million from the city of Irving and $5 million from the Irving Independent School District.
The letters also threaten lawsuits and seek written apologies.
Ahmed took his clock to school in September, and an educator thought it could be a bomb.
Ahmed was arrested but never charged.
He was also suspended from school.
The family accepted a foundation's offer to pay for Ahmed's education in Qatar and has since moved to the Persian Gulf country 'for security reasons'. They say in the lawsuit they would like to return to Texas when they feel safe again.

NOTE: I AM POSTING THE TITLE AS IT WAS WRITTEN.
This whole thing was a scam.
It’s crap like this that makes me think there’s a better way. If you bring a civil suit, like this one, and lose, you have to pay the legal and related fees of the defense. Wonder what that would do to frivolous lawsuits in the US.
This little pile of crap is never going away
POUND SAND........
Counterclaim, and get the DA’s office to look into terrorism charges for this bunch. He simulated an explosive device, apparently with the complicity of his father, and disrupted the school with it. Book ‘em.
Obama’s DOJ will help him out even if it costs the Tax Payers millions
Give him $10 coupon to Smokey’s Pig Roast Emporium.
That is (or was) the British rule. I don’t know how it worked out for them.
LOL, they’re in the Persian gulf because they don’t feel safe in Texas. That has got to be the biggest bunch of BS since claiming he built a clock.
APOLOGY:
Dear Ahmed, I apologize for not giving you a red cent.
Warm regards,
Victim of shake down
That 'clock' (and pencil box maybe) was bought on eBay. I bet the father's credit card was used. They are all complicit.
It's nothing
I was told to say “You’re sorry” to Ahmed.
Ahmed, you’re sorry. In fact, you’re one of the sorriest people on earth. I don’t think I can imagine a sorrier example of a human being.
Izzat good?
I’m pretty sure it still is their system.
A+ job!
The high cost of hurt feelings. But the feelings MOST hurt, are those of whom believed that the apparatus could actually have been a real bomb trigger mechanism, and the kid was playing on that.
Cry “Wolf!” once too often, and nobody believes.
