Bye bye Avis. How much rental car business will they also lose from TEVA. Word gets out.
I think it would be super for Jewish persons to start the “I’m offended” and “discriminated against” noise. Or for that matter, any member of any minority. Run the “black lives matter” out of town...Why don’t we turn the tables on them? How about not accepting any credit or employment applications with names like the two manning that AVIS booth and the multitude of others that we see every day? Don’t come back until you have a name that others can pronounce!!!
I just read the Yelp reviews on this location. It’s bad. It describes the kind of service that would have me cursing management. If this is typical of an Avis location, then Avis seriously needs to die.
I now will scratch Avis off my list of companies I'll check on.
All at Avis responsible for this travesty should be summarily fired.
BtW, unless that happens QUICKY, I will never rent from Avis again. (I travel a lot and rent a lot of cars.)
According to Avis, “On Friday, a customer seeking to rent a car from Avis Car Rental in Manhattan was not allowed to do so because he failed to provide the required documentation. Visitors to the U.S. from other countries must provide both a valid drivers license from their country of residence as well as either a valid International Drivers License or passport in order to rent from Avis. We are aggressively investigating the customer’s allegations regarding the handling of this matter, as we do not tolerate any form of discrimination. So far, our ongoing investigation suggests that this customer is unfairly maligning us with unfounded allegations.”

Is my regular driverâs license sufficient when I am renting outside my resident country?
Answer: Generally, a driverâs license, passport and an International Driving Permit issued in the driverâs name from their home country is required for most Budget car rentals with the following exceptions:
European Union (EU) residents renting in the EU must present either an International Driving Permit along with the driverâs license from their home country or simply their EU driverâs license.
All other drivers may not be required to present an International Driving Permit when traveling abroad, but they should be prepared to do so. For information on how a U.S. resident may obtain an International Driving Permit, visit the U.S. Department of State Web site. Non-U.S. residents should obtain their International Driving Permit from their home country before traveling.
If your home countryâs driverâs license information is not written in the Roman alphabet, you will be required to present an International Driving Permit in order to rent from Budget.

What documents will I need to provide?
All drivers of the vehicle will need to be present and provide a valid driver’s license. After 8 June 2015, all UK drivers collecting their vehicle from one of our UK stores will only need to bring their photo card licence. If UK drivers are renting outside of the UK we recommend for peace of mind visiting the DVLA’s ‘Share My Driving Licence’ portal and bringing along a print out of their licence, which shows current restrictions and penalties.
You must have held a full clean licence for at least one year. An International Driver’s Permit alone is not sufficient for rental - it can only be used in conjunction with a standard driving licence.
You will also need a credit card in your own name. Further identification, such as a passport, may also be required.
Please note that any discounts or vouchers must be presented upon arrival.
A couple of Social Justice Warriors, Obama-influenced, Black Lives Matter followers decided that banning Israeli documents would be a good policy for their company, despite not actually being the company's policy. Hence the following:
From the original article: A reservation agent named Angelline declined to honor Mr. Bergwerk's reservation, saying that it was company policy not to recognize Israeli documents.
That's what this is about. Agelline and Shamoura are simply doing to Israel what was done to South Africa...
However, this guy isn't a country, he's a man. A regular, loyal user of the company's product. He was absolutely discriminated against. These two SJW's cannot be allowed to get away with it.
FReepers need to care! Why?
Because we're already in their crosshairs. They will do this to us next.
"Oh, I see you come from Alabama... I'm sorry, but Alabama voted for that Racist, Trump (or Cruz). Our company policy does not allow us to accept docuemtyns from Red states."
Sound far-fetched? Why? It happened to this Israeli.
I will never rent from Avis again. They lost a customer. And that manager and clerk should be fired.
RACISTS
As someone who needs to rent a car every month or so, Avis/Budget is looking much less appealing, especially since Avis is standing behind its bigoted employees.
There are other rental car companies out there.
If youâd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Given the fact that the individual has rented before from Avis using the same forms of identification, including the location which turned him down, and within the last few days, I'm guessing the is a function of the clerk who served him this time. Avis appears to be hesitant to acknowledge that. There are probably a lot more Muslim customers worldwide than Jews.
